A Good Buy
The product is as advertised. The price is right. In fact, I will buy a second pair. It came a week earlier than predicted. The quality is good. The fit is good. I would say this is a good deal for a barefoot runner. Only one caveat, the insole, obviously of decent quality is bit too thick. It takes away from the barefoot aspect because it elevates the heel. If I could suggest that the manufacturer include a lower quality insole, i.e., one that is thinner so the buyer could have the option of a thick or thin insole. Fortunately, I had an old runner with a cheap, thin insole. I just exchanged it for the thicker insole. It now feels like I am going barefoot. I suppose one could just take the insole out and achieve the same result. Conclusion: This is a good shoe.

A great minimalist shoe, updated after five months
I have been wearing Five Fingers shoes since they first came out. I own about six pairs. My other athletic shoes are Merrell Men's Trail Glove 4 Runners. I've slowly converted most of my other shoes to minimalist shoes (zero drop, thin flexible sole). When the toes split in my latest pair of Five Fingers shoes and I saw that Vibram was now charging $120 for a pair of shoes, I was open to alternatives. I use the Five Fingers shoes for trail running but what I really like about them is their versatility. I can put them on in the morning for a beach run, then transition to scuba diving (using the five fingers shoes instead of a bootie inside scuba fins), then go kiteboarding where the five fingers shoes give me a better grip on the wakeboard than other booties I've tried, then wear them around the deck of the boat without worrying about splinters. I like how the five fingers shoes offer great stability for side-to-side movement. I've worn them to play ultimate frisbee (instead of cleats) and even tried them for tennis and liked the way they gripped the clay court. So I needed a new pair of minimalist shoes but I hesitated to spend $120 and bought these instead at $37. I felt no moral compunction about buying knock-offs because I believe Vibram Five Finger shoes are still in beta-testing. Vibram still hasn't figured out how to keep the toes from ripping, and the blue dye on my latest pair stains my feet even after six trips through the washer. $120/pair for a product that is still in beta?So how do these shoes work for me? Great! I ordered my usual size (9.5) and they fit perfectly. I've taken them on three trail runs, one 15-mile hike and two road runs - and they are very comfortable. Examining their construction I see no reason to suspect they will fail sooner than Five Finger shoes. The sole is a tiny bit thicker than I'd normally choose, but it is still only a few mm. And where I live in Arizona, the trails are very rocky and thorny so a slightly thicker sole is fine. Despite their thickness, they are very flexible so you get the same workout and feel of the terrain you would with Five Fingers. The only issue I have is that the lack of individual toe boxes means you lose lateral stability. I won't be using these shoes for ultimate frisbee, tennis, or running sideways along boulders. But for straight-ahead trail running they are great. Save yourself $80 and buy these shoes.Update after two months: these have held up well, through more trail runs, a backpack trip through the Blue River, everyday wear, etc. They also don't stink nearly as much as Vibram Five-Finger shoes. The sole is getting a little thin under the ball of my foot, but otherwise they are holding up great. I recommend these without reservation. After five months, these are starting to show considerable wear - toes starting to come loose from fabric, laces loosening up and no longer staying tight, more wear on sole. BUT.... that's after dozens more trail runs, two whitewater raft trips, several mountain bike rides with aggressive pedals, and everyday wear around town. With the gym mostly closed I did a LOT of outdoor stuff in a pretty abrasive part of the southwest for five months. I think that even a $120 pair of shoes would show about the same wear. And the wear is even all around rather than one big issue. I bought two more pairs. The original pair is still fine for everyday wear. But for aggressive trail running I'll use the new shoes.

Comfy and decent value but
cloth lining is peeling off under toes, partly due to shoes running a little small and how they are constructed. Never had this problem with my FiveFingers.
