PearlModern Utility Snare Drum - 13" x 5" Satin Black

Got this to replace the snare on my street bop kit cuz it really just wasn't working for me. First impressions: No OVERTONES!!!!...very little ring which was eliminated by a little dampening. Sound: Solid crack if tuned up. Wicked rimshots. It can also provide a fat back sound if you need to channel your inner 70s rock god. Oh I hear you in the back smart a**. You want to know if the wood is as good as a custom made deal from some small shop in India with the materials imported from "never heard of it" South America and tended by 85 year old virgin monks who only listen to The Shaggs. Well no its not. But those drums cost $10,000 and need to be in a sound proof room cuz the breeze blew too hard. THIS drum is for people who actually play and not just look at their drums. Buy if you need an extra snare. Buy it if you need a main snare. Buy it to boost Pearl's stock. Parents....buy it if you want to make your little drummer happy with a good sounding snare. Old folks...buy it to rock out the nursing home and finally show those young punks whos really swingin'! GREAT JOB PEARL!

Beautiful snare if the top snare hoop and one of the screws wasn't bent. This wasn't a shipping damage from what I can tell because the packaging was great and unharmed when received- distributor just sent me a damaged snare?

I have owned Pearl drums in the past, I traveled with a 7-pc Pearl Export set for years and always had good results,This snare drum was so cheaply made and looked it, the sound was not up to par with the other Pearl products I have owned or played
