Well-researched, informative, and fun
As an MIT-trained Planetary Scientist, I am incredibly pleased at the scientific accuracy in this book. It's a fun read, and does a great job illustrating the characteristics of the planets. I have an 8-year-old who loved us reading him The Martian and particularly soaked up the atmospheric chemistry parts of it and wanted to know all about the hows and whys, so this book is great for him too. And the illustrations are gorgeous!

Space exploration fun.
Wonderful humor is applied to the actual challenges faced if you consider traveling to other worlds in our solar system. Information and science from 50 years of space exploration is used to provide a planning guide for visiting our solar system neighbors. The result is a thoughtful look at what manned exploration of other planets requires, and it's presented in the context that the reader would actually make the trip.

Like Fromers for the Solar System
Here is my favorite quote from the first section "In the next stage, blackout, you'll lose your sight entirely and finally, you'll pass our because of g-force-induced loss of consiousness. However, if the g-force increase is rapid, you might pass out before you notice anything is wrong. . . .Keep in mind that no all g-forces affect you in the same way. Force exerted from head to toe can be much more damaging than force exerted from the chest to the back. That's why your seatback is parralel to the ground during launch."A lot of good practical information. Good "non-fiction" read.

My 12 year old grandson loves this
Bought this as a Christmas present for him as he kept checking it out of the library and his mother was afraid he would misplace it one more time. Fun way to study the solar system.

Pack your backs for an informative and imaginative trip through the solar system. Although the physical size of the book is smaller than I expected, it is working out for the better. Fun to read. Lovely illustrations. My 10 year old daughter also enjoys reading this book.
