What is the height of the light fixture only?

The height of this fixture (pendant) is approximately 5.38 inches high and 7.75 inches in diameter. This comes with (3) 9.5 inch down rods. You do need to use at least 1 of the 9.5 inch down rods when installing.

Can the rod be cut to shorten? The fixture hangs too low for my tall husband.

Thank you for your question. This mini-pendant is adjustable by using 1, 2, or 3 of the included 9.5 inch rods. You cannot shorten the included rods. These rods thread to one another for installation. We do not offer shorter or additional rods for this pendant.

Is item compatible with Australian wiring

This fixture is rated for 120 volt and would not be rated to run 230 volts.

How is the shade secured to the down rod? Is it possible to change the shade in the future?

The shade is attached by a nut that goes around the bulb base, similar to what you find on a vanity glass shade. I would think that you could potentially change shades if you wanted to.
