Rhapsody in Blue: Solo Piano Version (Alfred Masterwork Edition)

Although it would be nice to have the spiral bound but for the price it's a fantastic print of this amazing piece of music. It's fast and furious so I hope you have someone to help you turn pages!

I shopped around for the best solo piano copy of Rhapsody in Blue, and this was definitely it. Why?1) It's an Alfred Masterwork edition, so the cover is pretty and matches all my other classical music books2) The 30 pages of sheet music lay flat for the most part3) Pedaling is included!4) Fingerings are included!5) The measures are numbered in boxes (wow)6) Editor's notes that reference other versions (piano plus orchestra and the two piano scores). Also, the editor makes some nice suggestions for inserting measures.7) Notes are big (there are five staff lines per page)8) It's based on the 1924 version, but the printing does not look old. The notes are printed very darkly, not faintly

Great piece, but does not entirely follow the original music for Rhapsody In Blue piano solo (the one published by WB). There are slurs and arpeggiated chord markings that are removed from this edition that is present in the original. Overall, still, an excellent piece that provides deep insight and helpful fingering to tackle more complex sections.

This music seems to be an excellent reproduction of the piano music for Rhapsody in Blue. I like that the measures are numbered, and some interesting information is included on the last page, about Gershwin and the music.I would recommend this to anyone ready to tackle this great work.
