Simplicity 1139 Women's Civil War Historical Costume Sewing Pattern, Sizes 14-20

I made the chemise and the drawers. The drawers were a piece of cake, the chemise sleeves with the gussets were a little more challenging. Make sure you have 45" wide material, not 36" wide muslin if you plan to make the drawers. Since the chemise tucks into the drawers, you can make the chemise much shorter than the pattern. None of the trim is essential on the chemise. The neckline is quite low so it will work with low-cut evening wear. My costume has a high neck (Simplicity pattern 3727) and I found the chemise was slipping off my shoulders. I did not want to take it apart, so I just added a center box pleat to the neckline in the back. I had never done flat-felled seams before and I just love them. I am going to use them in other sewing projects.

Same price as buying at a local store but they were out of this pattern so I ordered it here instead. Easy instructions and easy to assemble if you have some basic sewing experience.
