Really liked this

I really liked this. It just came in such a small bag, I purchased Bovine Gelatin for the next round. But this was way more delicious, and it came in tiny little beadlike structures which made my iced Matcha like a bubble drink.

Very freaking good will repurchase

The media could not be loaded. Sorry got a cold or smthng if I sound weird. Really delicious use popsicles for the base. ( I used a walmart assorted one with 18 pops.) two in each melt them down to water on the oven and let them get a bit warm maybe hot to the touch. Then add half the pack or a little less because mine is a wince hard. Doesn’t taste like fish at all definitely has the gelatin hit super delish- xo bye

This Gelatin worked great for a homemade gummy bear recipe!

I used this fish gelatin to make my own gummy bears for my son. Regular gummy bears have terrible ingredients, so I wanted to try making my own! I used a silicone mold and they turned out great! I am glad there's a fish option since the beef derived gelatin is creepy. My son told me they are "yummy" and I agree! Very tasty. I was worried they'd taste fishy, but not at all.:)These recipes are courtesy of DIYNatural.com and I used a bag of frozen berries, with just the raspberry, cherry and blueberries picked out to puree in my Ninja mixer. It made just under 2/3 cup of fruit puree and I used 3 tablespoons of this fish gelatin powder (stirring like mad with a whisk so it would not clump over low-med heat!) This gelatin setup perfectly! I put them in the fridge for 2 hours vs. freezer for 20-30 mins.Next time, I will try the orange recipe.Note: The package of fish gelatin is very small. I might have enough in the bag to make 1/2 a recipe, or maybe 1 more batch. I need to measure the rest, but it doesn't seem like I have 3 tablespoons left to make a full batch. Half a batch is fine though because I only have one gummy bear mold. I used the overflow to pour into some heart shaped molds to use the excess fruit mixture.** I used the blueberry recipe, even though I had a medley of berries/cherries and I substituted some organic lime juice instead of lemon juice.Orange Gummy Bears1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice2 tablespoons honey3 tablespoons unflavored gelatingummy bear silicone moldStrawberry Gummy Bears' cup pureed strawberries (make sure they’re thawed to room temp if using frozen)' cup filtered water1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice2 tablespoons honey3 tablespoons unflavored gelatingummy bear silicone moldBlueberry Gummy Bears½ cup pureed blueberries (allow to thaw to room temp if using frozen)½ cup filtered water1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice3 tablespoons honey3 tablespoons unflavored gelatingummy bear silicone moldDirectionsCombine all ingredients except gelatin in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir with a whisk.Gradually whisk gelatin into the mixture, stirring constantly. (Avoid dumping gelatin into pan all at once, which will cause big globs of gelatin to remain in finished product.)Continue heating over medium-low heat until all ingredients are well combined and gelatin is completely melted. (The mixture will change from a grainy, jelly-like consistency to a more glassy, smooth consistency when gelatin is all melted.)Place gummy bear mold on a cookie sheet (which makes it easier to move without spilling once filled). Pour mixture into silicone mold and place in freezer for about 20-30 minutes.Pop gummy bears out of mold and store in an airtight container. They will keep in the refrigerator for a few weeks.Note: You can also pour mixture into a baking dish greased with coconut oil if you don’t have silicone molds. After mixture is set up, cut with a knife or use cookie cutters to make any shape you like.To be helpful, I'll post photos of my gummy bear experiment. :)

There is a scent that lingers

First time using this product and gelatin in general. There is a strong scent. Some have referred it to a fish smell. I don't know if that's necessarily true, but there is definitely a smell. I used this product in a lemon mousse and the smell was not noticeable because lemon has such an overpowering flavor. However, when I used it in a glaze, the smell does come through a bit more and it's not a pleasant taste/scent.

This product works just like regular gelatin

I wanted to make no bake cheese cake and no that gelatin would work but I'm a Jew and am forbidden from eating gelatin so y was looking for a replacement. I previously bought agar agar which definitely DOES NOT work the same neither is the texture the same. I tired so many different measurements and none of them came out right. I found this product and thought why not, well it was the best decision I ever made! The very first time I used it the glaze came out prefect on the first try, I was so excited! I will definitely be buying more of this product soon because I have a lot of desserts to make, thank you so much modernist pantry for such a great product.

:/

I just got this product today, and it really wasn't what I was expecting... It worked just fine, and I'm quite happy because of that, but there is an awful smell from the gelatin, and I'm not quite sure why. I read one of the reviews and someone says that there is no fish smell from it, but mines had a really terrible smell. And because of the smell, it ruined my whole product that I was making. Quite honestly, I'm very disappointed... I'm not sure if I got a bad batch or something, but I don't think I'd buy this gelatin again.

Perfect Replacement for Knox

I'm a vegetarian and am regularly confronted with the yucky task of "knoxing" my daughter's hair. (She's a synchronized swimmer and their hair must be completely covered in gelatin in lieu of wearing a swim cap.) Of course Knox contains cow and horse bones and hooves, so it's pretty gross. And vegetarian gelatin replacement does not actually hold up in the pool. While fish gelatin isn't vegetarian, it is slightly less disgusting (at least to me). And, it works perfectly as a replacement for Knox in gelling hair.I was really happy to find this. Thanks for stocking it!

Over priced.

I planned to make a birthday cake with this used in the icing. I decided to try another recipe as I didn't feel this was what I wanted for a special ocasion.
