On first impression I was surprised at how light this magnifier was. It's just a cheap bit of plastic and I think the lens may be plastic as well. Then I realized that it has to be that way or else it would be too heavy to use it as it is intended. Also, what do you want for just a few bucks?I am able to clip the magnifier onto my glasses and it stays in place in front of my eye just fine. The clip goes right onto the lens of my glasses but it has that rubbery stuff on it so I don't have to worry about scratching the lens. It provides a high level of magnification.As others have mentioned in reviews here, you do have to hold your face very close to the object you are viewing in order for it to come into focus. This does make it a little awkward and a little hard on the back as you have to lean over pretty far. I wouldn't be able to sit in that position for very long. I still gave this magnifier four stars. I should have known about the distance thing so that's my own fault.Geneally speaking, I think this magnifier will do exactly what it says it will do and it was so inexpensive that I don't feel like I got ripped off.

For the most part, I like this product. I like the idea of being able to have a loupe magnifier that I can have on my glasses and use without having to take off my glasses and put them down somewhere. At 5X, the magnification is useful, and I have no problem with interference between my glasses and the magnifier.My only complaint with this magnifier is that the clip attaches to the glasses lens rather than the frame. The clip has rubberized sleeves that are supposed to protect the lens from scratches, but they are loose and could slide in a way that would allow metal to touch the lens. A scratch in the upper corner of the lens wouldn't be horrible, but no one wants a scratch on a glasses lens. I'll eventually find a way to put better padding over the clip. They could improve this product tremendously by designing the clip to fit on the frame instead of the lens.

The ONLY good thing about this product is that it came fairly quickly. As to the product itself, it is an utterly useless piece of junk. I wouldn't mind that it's cheaply made IF it worked. I wouldn't mind that the edges are tough and unfinished and would snag on anything it comes in contact with IF it worked. Why doesn't it work? I'm glad you asked. You can't see out of the lense no matter how close or far away you put the item you're trying to work on. But what good is it if you can't see out of it you ask? Another good question and, simply put, you can't. It's a complete and total waste of money, time, and effort. And worse than being a total waste? You cannot "return to sender" so you're stuck with the garbage and the bill. This is my first encounter with Amazon carrying a POS product and not standing behind it. Shame on you, Amazon. Selling garbage and then not standing up for your customers is just bad business. One star for you. 👎

This loupe seems well made. It measures .85 tall by 1.53 at the back tapering down to 1.20 at the front. While I cannot verify the 5x magnification, the image through the lens is clear and undistorted.The clip did not hold the unit flat against my glasses, but the wire frame is bendable allowing a simple "adjustment" to make it fit perfectly.My only "con" would be the protective covers on the ends of the clip jaws - they are only sleeves which leave the ends of the steel jaws exposed. If they slip back (which they do), that leaves bare steel jaws against my lenses. I will remove the sleeves and apply a wrapped-over covering of good quality electrical tape, like 3M Super-88.At the $5.79 price tag, I am happy with this purchase. It should make the job of splinter removal in my workshop much easier !

I had a stroke in January 2011 that left me with Cortical Blindness. My eyes physically work (pupils respond to light, retinas are fine, crystalline lenses are clear), but my brain has trouble interpreting the signals the eyes are sending. In particular, my ability to read and manipulate things requiring fine detail was seriously impacted. This loupe is simply amazing; I just clip it to the lens of my glasses, flip it down, and I can read fine print or knit fine gauge with no problem. It's definitely helped with my rehabilitation, giving my brain a way to relearn how to interpret what my eyes are seeing. My only regret was that I didn't buy a second one for my other lens!

The clip itself is a little floppy and insecure. It clamps right onto the lens of eyeglasses, which is a little worrisome, hence the -*. The flip-up feature is a great convenience. It has an adjustment knob and a spring to hold tension, and works well once adjusted.View is sharp and clear. 5x is my favorite for loupe work and using this with eyeglasses correction is better than loupe alone . I don't know if the lens is glass or plastic and I'm a afraid to test it.

This is a really handy Loupe Magnifier if you wear glasses as I do. It clips on your glasses easily and swings up and out of your way when you don't need it. Check out my photos under customer images on the product page.This has a 5X power magnification, which is enough to see small objects and print you are barley able to see without it. Although I can see the objects well, it is difficult to do any work on them. My clear view is only 1 1/2 to 2 inches away from the object, not much room to get in there and do any work. This is something I anticipated since there description states it has a focal view of 2 in.This is a inexpensive loop " with the free shipping " that seems to be very well made. Well worth the price I paid for it.

The spring adjust screw is so bad simply useless, the lens is plastic and full of scratches…just wondering where these positive reviews come from…Edit: Received the replacement after calling Amazon, it is a bit better at least the screw works so change to 3 stars...the Bausch & Lomb one is much better. It'I bought it mainly to use on my spectacles, unfortunately I can't actually get it to fit as the arm with the clip is rather long - the loupe basically hangs on my cheek when I try to wear it.The optics appear pretty usable but without a high end loupe to compare, I can't really say. Also, do keep in mind this is a tool for seriously tiny work; the working distance is about 2 inches from the front of the loupe, witha very narrow depth of field.

I know this product is cheap but these issues are beyond nit picking. It is not just bad, its not usable. Everything on a product is uneven. Clip doesn't stay on the glasses for more than a minute before it falls down. Such a waste of my time, and well, $12. Unfortunately, it cannot be returned so it is going straight to the garbage bin. This is the first time I see that something cannot be returned on on Amazon and I am very disappointed.
