A Beautiful Buy at a Bargain Price.
Like a dog attacking its dinner dish, which then travels the length of the kitchen, I used to have PCB's do much the same thing when soldering. We often wish we had an extra pair off hands. The 'Burntec PCB Holder' is the answer to this problem ... and it is built like the Fourth Bridge! Massively overly-engineered, the metal frame would easily bear a man's weight and then some. I suspected that the slotted holder, which receives the PCB would be made from plastic, so gingerly dabbed it with the soldering iron ... wrong ... the PCB is held with metal blocks! This will outlast the 21st Century. I'm going to leave mine to my son. This piece of engineering, for it is nothing less, is with a good finish, rubber feet that really do grip a smooth surface, PCB locking screws and quick PCB release spring. It is weighty for good reason and when locked into position, the PCB will not move, until you unscrew the locking screws, one on either side. Because everything that moves is metal, I've given mine a touch of grease, which has turned a fine piece of engineering into a refined piece of engineering. Whilst it isn't precision engineered, when you think about it, it doesn't have to be.Nobody could possibly be dissatisfied with this PCB holder, and I rank it the finest money can buy. The people who designed this, must have been there and got the 'T'-shirt. A beautiful buy at a bargain price. I've given it top marks for durability, ease of use and value for money. If you don't, then you must be very hard to please.

Very useful tool
Having seen these for a while at much more money I was happy to get one for only a few pounds. The tool appears the same as the much more expensive versions. The base is metal and nice and sturdy. The blue uprights are plastic which might be an ESD thing but metal would have been nice but I suppose would have added to the price.Clamping is via small thumb screws which are on opposite sides and so a little fiddly but manageable. In use the tool makes soldering PCBs far easier than helping hands or just leaving it on the table. You get good access and you can have the board just how you need it to get to solder/desolder a connection.Brilliant tool for the money and would certainly recommend it.

Useful jig, sufficient for intended purpose.
BURNTEC PCB Holder Jig (aka Duratool PCB Holder D03170).Sold by Burn Technology Limited and Fulfilled by Amazon. The jig was supplied in a retail box labelled Duratool PCB Holder D03170 made in China. The box states several unquantified claims: Tough Tools for Tough Jobs, High Quality100% Long Life. Simple Operation. ROHS conform. Also displayed on the box are several pertinent bullet points: 360 degree Adjustable Holder. Light weight, easy to carry. Great help for soldering and clamp. Adjustable base and clamp to hold various sizes of PC Boards. The back of the box shows a diagram of the assembled jig, a parts list, and brief assembly instructions. The jig appears remarkably similar to Silverline Tools 511032 360 Degree Universal Clamping Kit - Blue (5-Piece) which is also available from Amazon and other sources.Supplied as a kit of five parts, assembly should be straightforward with the aid of a pz1 screwdriver. The jig is assembled from a pair of black metal supports (with rubber feet), a long black metal slide, and a pair of blue plastic uprights which incorporate the PCB clamps. The blue plastic uprights should be attached to the black metal supports using the supplied pz screws. There are four screws in total (two screws per upright), which were supplied inserted into the threaded holes in their respective supports. The screws should be removed from the supports and used to secure the blue plastic uprights to the black metal supports. On the supplied jig, the threaded holes in one of the metal supports were not spaced correctly. The distance between centres was 4mm too small, enough to prevent assembly, as the holes on the blue plastic uprights did not align with the threaded holes on the supports to which they are supposed to attach. As the uprights are plastic, some fettling with a hole enlarger ensured assembly could be completed. The uprights and supports slide onto the black metal slide, thumb screws tightened, and the jig is complete.Once assembled the jig performed well, facilitating the successful replacement of a micro-switch in a Logitech mouse. The PCB was held securely and the jig remained stable on the desk throughout the repair.Overall a very useful jig, relatively good value for money, sufficient for intended purpose, and for similar light use.Four star rating due to QC oversight resulting in the need to re-align screw holes to allow for assembly.

Great Product at a Great Price!
Another reviewer has said that the PCB holders on this jig are made from plastic and therefore care has to be taken to avoid touching them with your soldering iron. This is incorrect as the brackets are, in fact, made from painted die-cast metal. All black parts (other than the plastic turn wheels and end inserts) are made from painted metal. Both blue supports are made from sturdy plastic. Obviously, whilst the metal itself is unlikely to be damaged by a soldering iron the painted finish is likely to be more susceptible to some degree of damage or marking so, in order to preserve the pristine look of your jig, touching it with a soldering iron is not recommended. That said, I consider this an exceptional product for the price as PCB jigs of this kind from other manufacturers can cost many times more. As the maximum width of PCB is 23cm it is probable that most PCB's should fit in this jig. Due to the easy adjustment for width and tilt of the PCB it can make working on boards much easier than on a worktop as the board is kept still and sturdy. Removal of through-hole components is much easier as simultaneous access to both sides of the board is made possible.
