Q: 1. What are the dimensions of the scratcher part? 2. Are refills available?

I purchased this in August 2019, and the refill referenced by lonkey (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HSSRUQ/) does not fit; it is too thick and too wide. Perhaps there has been a redesign since 2018. The correct refill should measure 9 1/4 x 17 5/8 x 1 1/4.

Q: How do I prevent this from sliding around on the floor when the cats try to use it? My cats love this and want to use it, but as soon as they try, it slides around. It doesn't matter what type of floor I put this on, carpet/hardwood/laminate, it slides. Has anyone else encountered this and come up with a solution?

you can glue little rubber feet to the bottom, which will prevent sliding.. or that rubber matting that you put under carpets. I have mine against a window seat.. it does double duty to assist my old guys in climbing up.. but I always find it in other areas of the room, and turned over.. they don't seem to mind, and get quite excited when I right it!

It doesn't trim the claws, but it does help the cat with the natural shedding of the top nail. Cats regrow their nails differently than humans. The new ones grow under the existing nail. Younger cats will gnaw on their feet all the time to crack and shed these. Older cats seem to like doing it on a scratcher like this. I've had various cats for 23 years and this is what I've observed. Learning how to correctly trim their nails at least every two weeks is a good idea.
