Safe, and well made.

Was thinking about buying one for ages, but wasn't sure it was worth it.It is!Sturdy thick plastic, with excellent screw fitting lid. The valve works well too. Mine did squeak for a few uses, but it stopped after a few uses.I got the red, although I liked the greenish colour, I thought I may put it down somewhere, in the undergrowth or long grass, and it blends in, and I walk off without it 🤣 so red for me.£16.00 for a plastic bottle might sound daft, but it's a safe way to carry your biofuels and easy to pour.

Well constructed lightweight fuel bottle

A nice sized, well constructed, fuel storage bottle. Holds 1/2 litre of fuel..an ideal amount for a one/two man short trip, however for longer camping adventures or excessive cooking would not be sufficient.Pros;1/ lightweight plastic that is rigid and feels really strong.2/ Clear markings to indicate its contents3/ Easy pour spout (x2) that prevents any spillage of fluid4/ A well constructed, no leak, screw lid.5/ An easy to use open/close mechanism...a rotating collar (screws up or down) that allows or prevents depressing the spring loaded plunger.6/ A nice size to fit into any number of outer rucksack pockets.Cons;1/ After dispensing there remains a small amount of fuel within the spouts that must be shaken out before putting the bottle away.2/ Some may consider expensive for a plastic bottle.3/ May prove to be too small for longer trips with flamboyant cooking activity. Please refer to photos.

Great but........

These are great, but they won`t pour from the special spout if you fill them above the line, and because they are not clear and there is no viewing window (like there is on most modern electric kettles), it`s very difficult to see where the max fill line is, but not only that, it`s always nice to be able to see how much fuel you have left in your bottle at a glance, so I think they would be better if they were clear bottles with just a red printed-on hazard warning label on both side of them, or, at least a viewing window so that you can see how much fuel remains, and so you don`t fill them too low, or above the line so that the pouring feature works as intended. Undeniably great tough bottles though.

Solid, leakproof spirit bottle

It's recommended as Duke of Edinburgh kit for a reason. The bottle is well made and solid. It's not too heavy, even when full of spirit fuel. The safety valve is a two stage process. The red knob on top is twistable. Turn it anti-clockwise to open the valve. Then, when you're ready to dispense, simply push the red cap down to release the fuel. When you release the cap, the fuel flow stops. The funnel is bi-directional, so either end will dispense the fuel (the other end then acting as a vent to allow smooth operation). Turn the red cap clockwise to then completely seal the fuel in the bottle. It's a great design. You might get some residual fuel in the funnel causing a little smell, but this will dissipate over time. All in all, a great product, fit for purpose and good value for money.

It does NOT leak if used properly...

... but it's not immediately obvious how to use it properly. Many reviews mention that it leaks. If used correctly it does not leak at all, but the instructions are printed on the side of the bottle near the bottom and are not particularly clear. The top cap or stopper has several functions. You can remove the entire stopper by twisting anticlockwise it using the two spouts as leverage. This allows you to fill the bottle. Replace the stopper and then ensure the red screw cap at the very top is fully screwed down clockwise. This prevents the fuel from getting to the spouts and the bottle from leaking. To fill your stove, fully unscrew the red cap anticlockwise, press it down and tip the bottle to pour the fuel into your stove. Then fully screw the red cap clockwise to seal the stopper. Finally, there will be some fuel left in the spout so make sure you drain it into your stove before stowing the bottle back in your bag.It is a clever and very safe system, but the instructions on the side of the bottle are not very clear so perhap Trangia could improve that.Personally, since working out how to use it, I love it and would not carry my fuel in anything else.
