Huge Improvmemt
So I have a 30gallon upright compressor I bought at Lowe’s in 2009 . I started a repair business and used this compressor commercially for 4 years , it ran almost constantly. Then I used it at home but I wouldn’t call it typical home use . It was always running , painting , grinding , it ran a hour a day minimum when at home. So it was worn out , started making extra noise and taking longer and longer to reach pressure . It was time to replace the pump .Other reviews mentioned that this was a direct replacement to the Lowe’s 30 gallon compressor pump , and it mostly is .my old pump has a 3/8 outlet and the new pump has a 1/2 outlet . So I just removed the fitting from the old pump and installed it on this one and it worked fine . I would guess I sacrificed some air flow and increased filling time and CFM output , but it’s still a massive improvement . In the future I will be looking into changing the tank to a 1/2 line to get the benefit of the CFM improvement that this pump is advertised to have . ( old 5.5 CFM , new 7CFM . )Before I removed the old pump I drained the tank and removed the air lines to get a baseline empty - full ( and I set mine to 155 PSI to shut off ) . It took a total of 17 minutes for the old pump to reach 155 psi . Noise level was 115 DB at the air filters and 95DB feet away . The new pump wow was a huge improvement . It took 5 minutes to fill and was much quieter, 95 DB at the filter and 85 5 feet away . And it’s a much lower, less annoying noise . All and all I’m very pleased .I do also have to comment on the packaging . They pack this thing right, it’s so secure in the box it’s unreal . Lots of expanded packing bags , it wouldn’t move . There was oil all over the bag it came with , but there was absolutely no way for this to move inside the box to get damaged. If you have any experience with delivery company’s ( all of them) they are not nice to there packages , they toss and stack them however they need to. But this thing was packed to nicely in the foam it was nearly impossible to move to keep it safe . In fact it was a bit time consuming to cut the foam from behind the flywheel to free up. .They don’t install the filters , but they do install the flywheel . So be prepared to remove the new flywheel to install it on your compressor, because most have the saftey cage around the belt and pulley area . The shaft of the pump goes through the cage so the flywheel must be removed . It’s a tapered fit so , be prepared for that part of the install .The pump is shipped mostly empty of oil , so have some 30w compressor oil ready to fill it to the recommended level . I did almost no maintenance on the original pump ( seriously can not believe it lasted ) but I already found a hour meter to mount on this one to keep up with the usage and maintenance intervals as instructed.I’ll update the review as time goes on if there are any problems or defects that pop up . But it look like the best $150 I have ever spent . Enjoy !!

Great Replacement
the original one could no compare to this one, had to make a plumbing change with some of the old pipes but worked out just fine. Would buy again the original one from Lowes was 100 bucks more so I made out much better. Works great pumps up much faster the the old one.

So far, so good.
This compressor arrived just as others have wrote about. 1st, the compressor fluid leaked out and the box was oil soaked in places. 2nd, one of the cooling fins was broke off. I figure this probably happened at the factory because the box was in good condition other than the leaked oil that I already mentioned. But as functionality goes, this compressor bolted up perfectly on my Puma compressor. The pulley was the same so I was able use the existing belt. Even though this pump was slightly bigger than the original pump, the guard still fit without any modifications. So far, so good. The compressor fills the 25 gallon tank with 130 psi in just over 2 minutes. I am very happy with it so far. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn’t for the 2 issues noted above.

Works perfectly on my Kobalt 30 gallon
I bought this to replace the pump on my 30 gallon Kobalt compressor which started failing 90 days after I bought it. The build up times had increased to 20 minutes to cut off. I knew the valves were shot in the head but could not locate the parts to rebuild so I ordered this pump. It was a direct bolt up and I had it together and running in 20 minutes. Mine runs off a 1.5-hp motor and does so with ease. My original set-up had 160 psi operating pressure so when installing, I adjusted my pressure shut-off valve to 125 psi. From empty to full/shut off, I’m back to 6-minutes. It handles my impact tools and sanders with ease!
