I have had my Alcantara steering wheel for about 2 years now (I am the second owner); it was in very good condition when I purchased it, however, I hate to admit this, but I had yet to clean it….until this afternoon; the top portion of the steering wheel was so matted that it looked (and felt) like smooth leather - shiny and tacky; I thought it was beyond saving, however, with this product, it brought it back to life with very little effort; I sprayed some of the foam on a clean microfiber cloth (I used white to see just how much grime I was lifting out) and basically went through every part of the steering wheel scrubbing…. with just my fingers …..and I couldn’t believe how much grime was embedded in the Alcantara; after scrubbing, I let it sit for 10 minutes, then took a clean microfiber cloth and firmly twisted it back and forth around each part of the steering wheel to capture any remaining moisture or grime; the steering wheel went from matted, shiny, and tacky, to a velvety feel, where the material could be brushed in various directions (as intended)….absolutely amazing; The amount of scrubbing involved (and foam product) is all relative to the wear / condition of your steering wheel to begin with; I spent a total of 20 - 30 minutes on mine and I didn’t even need to use a brush, that’s how effective this product is; it also smells really good; thus, if you think your Alcantara steering wheel is beyond hope, think again and give this product a try; it has high ratings for a reason; also, a little bit of foam goes a long way…I used quite a bit, but the can still feels full.

I clean a ton of carpet and alcantara seats, as well as old stained car floors and this stuff works like a charm. Smells good too.Gets gritty old carpet stains out with ease.

I bought this for my C8 with the Alcantara wheel and seats. When I got the car the steering wheel looked leather and felt like tar, it was disgusting. After maybe 5 short rounds of cleaning with the Sonax it is close to brand new again. BE AWARE, in my car at least I accidentally went over the red leather stripe at the top of the wheel and this definitely pulled color off of it, the directions warned me of that so I cant fault the product plus with my light pass it didn't pull enough to be visible. As far as the intended use this has been fantastic for the wheel and the two tiny blemishes in the seat.

The SONAX Upholstery and Alcantara Cleaner does a great job at lifting dirt and grime from Alcantara and fabric upholstery. The foaming action helps break down buildup without soaking the material, and once dried, the fabric feels fresh and soft again. It’s especially effective for steering wheels and seats that tend to get grimy over time.That said, it does require some patience. You need to agitate it properly with a brush or microfiber cloth, and drying time can be longer than expected. Also, while it works well on light to moderate dirt, really deep stains might need multiple applications.Overall, a solid cleaner if you take your time with it—just don’t expect instant results!

I was considering purchasing a cleaning vacuum for the car upholstery or this. Honestly I wanted to try it but wasn’t really convinced it would do much. However this impressed me, took out a large black stain I had on my type R seats for several years now. I still have to give it a second run down but it was fairly easy to do it. I purchased a soft brush compatible with alcantara. It’s a shame I didn’t take a picture on the before and after.

Works great! I restored my 10 year old BMW M3 steering wheel from a matted, shiny wheel to factory soft matte finish.Method: Take a slightly damp microfiber and zap it in the microwave to heat it up. Then I used the sonax foam directly on the wheel (start with a small surface area). Let it bubble and soak in. I then laid the warm microfiber around the wheel to let the heat work. After about 30 seconds I started to agitate the surface with small swirls gently lifting the dirt out. This worked well and left a very delicate but clean Alcantara finish.Let it dry and don't mess with it!!! Until it dries you can mess it all up by touching it with anything other than a microfiber, it almost comes apart in your fingers. Wait a few hours for it to dry fully. Next come back and brush lightly with a dry microfiber or Alcantara brush to get out any pilling. If the brush doesn't get it, take a sweater razor Remington Battery Operated Fabric Shaver RTFS-2(for cleaning up cotton sweaters after they go through the dryer.) and shave the pills off your steering wheel.You will be amazed. It's like a brand new wheel direct from the factory! That said, its not factory treated, so unless you keep it up semi-annually, it will just go back to how it was, and in some ways faster. I have yet to find a good treatment after a thorough restoration. In all, I saved myself a couple of hundred dollars doing this myself vs getting the wheel recovered.

After few years I find product is actually work

As shown on the picture it did a great job at removing grime. The yellow towel was new before I used the cleaner with it. Lifted a the fibers back up made my wheel look practically new again. Would definitely recommend. Plus the smell makes the car feel fresh again. Definitely worth the price!
