Not as Sour but still good.
These were good, I will say they are not super pickley or sour - at least mine wasn't and they were more crunchy than expected. I am used to kind of a squishy pickled plum texture. But its still tasted good.

Good product
I eat it in morning with rice. Or make rice balls for lunch crunchy.

Super yummy but expensive
Another product I bought from my mom for New Year’s. There are so many things that I know my mom likes but we cannot find them in our town or when we do it’s outrageously expensive and sells out fast actually happened to my mom so I checked Amazon and I saw it. This is definitely even more expensive than at the tiny Japanese store. We have nearby but I wanted to make my mom happy and happy she was

Convenient but not as good as whole umeboshi
This is definitely a convenience food. We eat a lot of umeboshi in my house, so it’s always an annoyance to have to cut around the central pit, and it leaves a lot of flesh still stuck to the pit that gets wasted. This is much quicker since the hard work is all done for you. But it’s a little too mushy and watery for my preferences. It is good for making onigiri as long as it is mixed in well with the rice, or if you want a tiny bit for a quick bowl of hot rice with other toppings. But even then the texture isn’t appealing to me. So I’d give this product a 3/5 for taste and texture but 5/5 for convenience and price point.

Tangy Twist
They're seriously tasty and add such a unique flavor to dishes. I love sprinkling them over rice or mixing them into salads for a tangy kick. Plus, the 7.05oz (200g) jar lasts a while, so you'll have plenty to play around with in the kitchen. If you're into trying new flavors or love Japanese cuisine, I definitely recommend giving these pickled plums a try. They'll totally elevate your meals!

Disappointing, lacks flavor and is unusually crunchy. I don’t recommend
I’m a big fan of ume plums and add them to a lot of my meals, especially rice and ramen. When I saw this product I was very interested as it would be a quick way to add some without the need to pit and chop it when I’m making a fast meal. I was disappointed at the taste and texture. The taste is very bland for ume plums and the texture is surprisingly crunchy, similar to chopped fresh celery. I have tried and liked many brands of ume plums and I realize texture varies widely but these taste underripe and are very disappointing. I cannot recommend this product as there is very little of the rich savory and salty flavor I expect.

Too many additives, too little taste
I bought this expecting that, as advertised, it would taste at least somewhat like umiboshi. There is a vague hint of that but I suspect it's only because of the flavorings and colorings that have been added. This would be all right if scattered throughout rice, or if you put a lot of it in the middle of a rice ball. As a condiment it doesn't have much flavor, and there is a distinct aftertaste of chemicals. I ended up throwing out most of it unfortunately because it really wasn't very usable in many dishes or as a side.

delicious with rice
Gave this a try because I love pickled plums with my rice and was not disappointed. It's got a great flavor and having it already chopped up and ready to eat was perfect. Used it sprinkled on top and as a filling for onigiri.
