Great snare for price and weight
I bought this snare in October 2019, I've played it for five years! I play in a honk band (local marching band with percussion and brass, based on New Orleans Second Line bands). I bought this drum especially for its relatively light weight. It's been a great drum for me. I can tune it high (my personal preference) and it doesn't weigh me down. Sounds great and still looks brand new. I have a more high end, heavier weight snare for my home kit, but this snare is great if you march or carry your snare.

not quite up to the hype
Pineville Music delivered on time. Two days! But I returned the drum. Rings like a bell. No internal damper. It's a good intermediate-level piece. The price was as low as $98.00 less than a month ago! BBut as we all know (and I should have as well) in the drum world, price almost always equals quality. Before everyone starts up on me, it's my OPINION. If you're happy, and it's your "go to" drum, and you "love it", you scored a real deal. All who bought this and love it, good on you. Pearl has a tremendous line up of snare drums and they cover all price points. I'm buying a 20-ply maple snare. Sure it costs a little more ($250.00) but there you go!

Great snare for the money
I bought this because I wanted a wood snare that would equally crack through as well as have warmer tone when played softly. Was considering a used Pork Pie maple snare that would have cost me more. I think I made the right choice. I only play for recreation, so this did the trick. My other snare is a 1966 slingerland aluminum radio king that has nowhere near the sensitivity nor warmth of the igniter.

Turned this into a Hybrid
I actually turned this into a Hybrid snare with a mesh head and it functions and sounds fantastic. looks great too!

Meh
Its what you would expect for the price. It doesn't sound horrible but I upgraded and it's just collecting dust now.

Do it! Great snare at an even better price. Made my starter kit sound so much better. You won't be disappointed.
