Sailingstory 20.5 inch Wooden Pirate Ship ...
I'm quite pleased with this pre-built 20.5 inch wooden pirate ship; which was a great value at the price (1 Ben Franklin, 2 Andrew Jacksons, 1 Alexander Hamilton and an Abe Lincoln at the time I purchased it).Assembly was easier for me than for other people, whose reviews I had read (prior to purchase). I may be able to help with that.First, remove the paper from the end of the ropes and disentangle all ropes first. Leave the nets hanging over the side of the ship, as you see them in the assembly video.Second (and this is VERY important): make sure your mast is pushed ALL OF THE WAY DOWN into the bottom of the appropriate receptacle hole, until it bottoms out in the hole. After the ship is painted, the dowel rod (mast) may have a slightly larger diameter than the actual receptacle hole and will be too difficult to push all the way down to the bottom of the hole. If the mast is not fully seated to the bottom of the receptacle hole, then the ropes will appear to be too short to reach their respective eye hook.I simply used some sandpaper on the bottom 1/2 inch (or so) of the masts (as needed) and was then able to get the mast to bottom out in the appropriate hole. This mostly solves the "short rope" issue that some reviewers complained about.Third: even after sanding the front most mast (at the bow of the ship), I was still unable to get it to go all the way down into the hole, to bottom out. This left the rope on the very front of the bow about 1 cm too short. I simply unscrewed the eye hook on the bow and moved it up (vertically) 1/2 inch higher on the bow. A brown marker covered the original hole of the eye hook. An easy fix.Fourth: I would recommend attaching the ropes as they do in the video. This means with the bow facing left and stern of the ship to your right, do that side first. Next, turn the ship around and do the opposing side. This makes it easier to turn the sails to an aesthetically pleasing angle, before the opposing ropes are tightened down. The provided video has excellent lighting and is of good quality but no close ups of where things attach and, yes (as other reviewers have noted) the assemblers hands are usually in the way of seeing where everything attaches. To be honest, anyone with a little common sense should be able to figure it all out quite easily. I watched the video only one time and had no problem finding where things attached (and I'm definitely no genius). Assembly, with my modifications, took less than 20 minutes (and I was taking my time). My ship arrived with no broken parts and was snug in it's box (with styrofoam inserts), though Amazon could have packed the original box into a shipping box for greater protection. However, as my ship arrived fully intact, I have no real shipping complaints. It also arrived in just a few days, after ordering (for reference, I live in southern Indiana).I have two minor disappointments and the reason for subtracting the single star. My packaging did not include the 'Black Pearl' sign that sits on the stand. Not really a big deal for me. A bigger disappointment though, was that the sails have no print on them. The images online show an old world map print on all of the sails, and I would have much preferred that. Mine was simply plain (off white) canvas. This could have been a mistake on my part, as you need to make sure that you select the specific sails that you want, and it is possible to overlook this step. Those caveats aside, I love the ship (which will sit atop my Pirates of the Caribbean pinball machine) and I believe that it is really an outstanding value (considering the level of detail on the ship). Even without the 'Black Pearl sign' and the cool map print sails, I have no regrets for this purchase.** I did take 4 photos of the ship, however, they were unable to upload onto Amazon's site for some reason. **

Packaging needs work
The ship is beautiful. Very easy to put together. But packaging needs work. It came in bent out of shape and some pieces were broken. They sent a whole new ship and we returned the damnaged one

Love it
This is a stunning and rather dramatically beautiful ship. The first one I ordered was broken upon arrival, but by the next day, a new one was delivered. Things like that happen. No big deal. What’s important is how beautifully crafted this ship is. It’s definitely worth the money and I’m glad I bought it. If you’re reading this and wondering if you should buy one as well. Yes. I’d definitely recommend it. You’ll be impressed and awestruck by it’s beauty.

Cheap fragile product material.
Very fragile and cheap materials used in making the masts, sails, ropes, etc. They broke too easily when trying to final assembly. Ship looks rather attractive though.

Beautiful ship
Truly an awesome piece. Assembly was easy even though the instructional video moves along too quickly. Had to back it up a few times and rewatch. Packaging could be improved as three of the gun port doors were broken off, but easily glued back in place. Other than that, no damage. Really happy with it.
