With a firmware upgrade it is great little machine

I don't think I would have paid the original $80. For the $44 it is a fun buy. I have 2 real c64, while those are great. It's nice to be able to just plug this in to new technology. If you load a virtual .d64 on the thumb drive not only can you add your own games, but program in basic and save your own.

it's great, the games load fast and everything just works

First of all, this little console looks great, it's so cute, you'll want to cuddle it after you open the box.The keyboard of course is non functional, and that's OK, you have a virtual keyboard and can also plug a USB keyboard and type away. Most of the games included don't need a keyboard or only use it for name input or something simple like that, so don't worry too much about it.The games work great, they load fast and look and sound about 98/99% like you remember.I don't give it 5 stars only because the joystick is very bad and it feels like it's going to break in a matter of days. I know the original Commodore joysticks were mostly bad, but this one feels like it's going to dissolve by just looking at it the wrong way.I know I can plug other USB gamepads and joysticks, but this one has some needed buttons (for calling the virtual keyboard, going back to the menu, etc) so I don't know how using another pad or stick is going to end up working. Also the game selection is not very good, I know you can technically load any C64 using a USB memory stick, but they you'd use one of the USBs for that, and that'd only leave one free for plugging the joystick and/or keyboard. You can plug a USB HUB and get more slots, but not every HUB works and it's honestly a mess.I know I said that you don't technically need a keyboard, but that's with the original game selection, if you add more games to it, then some of the good ones really need that keyboard to play. So, it's good for a little nostalgia jolt, I really like it and I know I'm going to be playing California Games with my (old) friends. But expect a few compromises and to do a little bit of work if you want to get something closer to the real experience.I still recommend it though, it's a really fun little thing to have.If the makers are reading, and are planning on a revision, here's my suggestions:-Add at least one more USB to it.-Include a better joystick.I know you probably can't get all the good games people are expecting, so I don't mind about the game selection, but those 2 things would make it just perfect for what it needs to be.

Tried to pull a fast one. Scam. Con job. Whatever you want to call it.

Total con. Advertised the PAL import version of the c64 Mini, even has a nice sticker labeling it on the repackage, but it's actually the (cheaper, off the shelf) US NTSC version. It's a retro console for a computer 37 years old, which I have been using for 37 years, and the moment I opened the box I knew I was duped. Shame.

They needed to be attached to a tv to use. With ordering 4, it got a little crowded!

Ordered one for each of our grandsons. They loved them. Simple to use, easy to set up. Successful gifts for Christmas.

Great reprogramming device

Small but as stated loaded with 64 retro games. Easily hooked up to tv or computer

Great idea but the games are not the popular ones I remember

Great idea to bring back Commodore 64 !!! I love the idea and I am considering getting the full size version, which I believe was released to market recently (in late 2020 ?). I was very excited to get this and start playing C64 games again. The setup was super easy. The power chord is like the one for cell phone. There is an on/off button on the unit. Hooking up to a TV was also super easy - just use regular HDMI cable (for HD TV). The biggest disappointment for me was the selection of games. None of the popular games I played as a teenager was on the unit (maybe except for Mission Impossible II). I remember so many sports games, basketball, football (matchday II), Karate game, Rambo, so many others. None of these popular games are on the unit. I was going to try to download the games for free from the internet, put them on a USB flash driver and try to upload it to the unit (there is a USB flash driver on the unit for that purpose) but I haven't tried it yet. I was reading about that on the internet on the sites which offer C64 games for free and I've read somewhere that the games had to have some kind of copyright code on them as if purchased. But since they are not purchased, they probably don't have that code so they will not work on the C64. This is strange because after all these years, obviously these games cannot be purchased, therefore they won't have the copyright then how can you play them on the unit through the flash driver. Maybe I am missing something. I hope the full size version has better games. Oh, one other thing is the joystick. It's just OK. I've been using it for 7-8 months now, it's still working (not broken) but it's not very good. I wish they would release the TurboShot II joystick, that design was the best.
