M-D Building Products 56066 12 in. x 24 in. x 22 ga. Mill Steel Sheet Weldable

My order arrived 2 days after the delivery estimate, (ordered 4/12, shipped 4/14, del. est. 4/15, rec'd 4/17). The sheets arrived with minor curls on a couple corners of one sheet. These were easily peened out on an anvil, (leave the bubble wrap in place to cushion the hammer blows and preserve the surface finish), resulting in nice, flat sheets. The finish is even and the dimensions are accurate. The cutting is square. A thickness gauge confirms this stock as 22 ga. The value for this item is good since most steel sheet I saw offered here is galvanized, smaller, or thicker. Also, buying multiples of a single sheet is cheaper than buying multiple sheets as offered. I anticipate that this stock will make a good, sturdy mATX computer case after a little coaxing on a bending brake.

Review for M-D building products 1'x2' 22ga galvanized sheet metal. Product arrived ahead of expected delivery and well packaged, no damage (three sheets placed in a size applicable cardboard box, wrapped in bubble wrap). All edges deburred and accurate measurements as advertised, however the thickness of the sheet metal is advertised as 22ga but the sticker on the product describes 28ga sheet metal. I did not put a thickness gauge or mic the sheet but it feels a little thin to be 22ga steel. Worked fine for my particular project, but wanted to ensure others are aware of the thickness discrepancy.

I purchased this to make repairs on the legs of some of my lawn chairs but the annealing of this metal makes it a little bit softer than I would have liked. I will need to hammer forge this metal to make it suitable for my needs before welding it.

It says 22ga. on here and on the sticker on the sheet, but is actually 20ga. I do not find this to be a detriment, but as I work with fine historical reproductions, it caused some confusion in the shop until the calipers were brought out. I'm not sure why it is not labeled correctly, or if this is simply a one time mistake on their behalf, so I will let it go at that.

The sheet arrived with bends and dents on 3 corners. The metal is also very soft, only requiring finger pressure to make most bends. Still, it works for what I wanted so 4 stars.

I have a 55 gallon drum that I converted to a large cooker. It has served me well over the years; but had developed rust, holes along the coal line at rear of the cooker. I bought two of these and lined the back of the cooker over the holes and attached with self tapping metal screws. This is the perfect gauge that is thick but bent to form the circular shape of the drum. Painted with high temp spray paint and you cannot even tell it is on there. Works perfectly!

If you are working on older cars and need to patch rust holes. This metal here does the job great!! And they ship surprisingly fast! I’m satisfied!! Will definitely be ordering more if my car (1967 mustang) needs more!!

Used this to keep bats out of a corner of my house. Great product - very hard to cut but that’s because it’s very durable steel. You’ll have to punch pilot holes into it if you’re planning on hanging it somewhere. Packaging was great - no dents and the product was dead on straight.

If you need a small piece of sheet metal, this will do. But you can find the same thing for less money at your local hardware store.
