Classic Thermapen, Highly-Rated Instant-Read Thermometer - Nautical Blue

If you’re considering a Thermapen ONE or a Classic Thermapen, I’ve had the chance to use both and can share my experience with each. While the Thermapen ONE does have some notable improvements over the Classic Thermapen, the differences might not significantly impact everyday use—especially if you’re mindful of your budget.The most significant advantage of the Thermapen ONE is its speed and accuracy—it reads temperatures about three times faster. But it’s one second vs three seconds. So, while a difference of just two seconds in the 100m dash in the Olympics means gold vs didn’t even qualify, isn’t a game changer for me. What’s important to me is that I feel the Classic still gives me quick and reliable results.As far as the features that don’t really impact the actual reading, The Thermapen ONE also offers several user-friendly upgrades. It’s more comfortable to hold, has a much easier-to-access battery compartment, and the settings are simpler to adjust. The automatic wake-up feature is especially convenient; if the probe is open, the display wakes up with just a touch, unlike the Classic Thermapen, which requires you to close and reopen the probe to wake it up. Additionally, the Thermapen ONE’s display automatically rotates, so you can read it from any angle, and it’s backlit, making it easier to read in low-light settings. It’s also built to be waterproof to IP67 standards, while the Classic Thermapen is only splash-proof.I think the Themapen ONE comes with an extended 5-year warranty. The Classic’s only has a 2 years. Probably means the company has greater confidence in the new model's durability.But, like I’ve said, these differences don’t necessarily mean the Classic Thermapen isn’t still a fantastic tool. For most cooking tasks, the Classic’s speed and accuracy are more than sufficient.Plus, at the time of this review, you’ll only be paying about a 15% premium for the Thermapen ONE, which might make it worth the extra investment for those additional features. But if budget is a primary concern, the Classic Thermapen is still a dependable kitchen companion that feels sturdy and built to last.I’d kind of think it like buying a Toyota vs a Lexus. Both will get you there for years to come, one will just give you a more luxurious experience.So, while the Thermapen ONE offers some convenient upgrades, it seems to me the Classic Thermapen will still get the job done exceptionally well.It all comes down to whether those extra features and slight improvements are worth the extra cost for you.In the end, I think I’ll be keeping the Thermapen ONE at the ready because the cost isn’t that big of a deal to me, especially since I expect to use it for the next 5-10 years.

I tried buying cheaper. I tried buying fancier and expensive. Ultimately this has been the only thermometer I’ve been happy with. It’s consistent and easy to use.

This is THE best thermometer company, I see chefs on social media and cooking publications reference them all the time. I’ve had the Pop for 5+ years and love it, and had been eyeing the Thermapen for a while and pulled the trigger when I saw they were back on Amazon.The Thermapen is super fast read, and super accurate. I like that you can change the angle of the probe so you can temp stuff in the oven more easily. It feels heavy duty and I’m planning on both this Thermapen and my Thermopop to last a very long time.I generally use my thermometers to temp meat, but have also used it to check whether breads, casseroles, etc. are done.

I was happy when it came, was disappointed when I opened it and it worked, then immediately went dead.

Husbands favorite thermometer for BBQing, we have several so they are always on hand. Reads accurately, definitely worth the price!

Thermometer that never fails to work just by opening the probe! Don’t waste your money on cheapies!

This is a great thermometer. It reads the temp way faster than my cheap one. It feels way sturdier too. I love that the probe folds in so it is protected while it’s out away. I don’t have to worry about it getting broken while cleaning it because the display is splash proof. I liked that there were a few color options. This is great for anyone learning how to cook things to the correct temp so you don’t over cook your food.
