Toro valve parts WORKED! 1 inch “jar top” valve
I have been trying to find the right sprinkler valve part for a leaking valve and I didn’t know what brand it originally was. I took the new parts out of the Toro valve, which is basically the diaphragm, the spring, the screw top & solenoid and put that in my underground valve and it worked like a charm! I’ve had the sprinkler system for over 20 years and I believe my original valves were either Hunter or Irritrol valves, if that helps anybody. Did it myself for less than 20 bucks and when you hire somebody it’s gonna be well over $200 to do the same thing.

Love as replacent for jar type.
I throw the body away unless I need it and just use the parts to swap out failed units, works great, rainbird, orbit, toro, any jar style one.

Richdel replacement tips
I had a valve go bad and after digging it up, I found a old Richdel 204a. This brand was purchased by Irritrol. There is no longer a direct replacement so I did a search for substitutes. Apparently you can use an Irritrol 2400 or this Toro 53708 or similar Toro. I took the "guts" out and left the body. I put in the new diaphragm support ring, diaphragm, spring, bonnet and solenoid. Here is the problem, the Jar top ring is threaded correctly, but it is thicker than the Richdel Jar top ring, thus the new ring won't screw down tight enough to compress the bonnet against the diaphragm. The solution is to use the old jar top ring. Unfortunately, mine leaked because there was a small crack.I ended up cutting off the bottom of the Toro ring with a hacksaw to match the Richdel one and it worked. I could have tried a spacer, but that solution seem less optimal.Hope this helps someone else.

Just in time for summer
bought this to replace a broken one. I had been putting it off because the weather was cool & wet, but then summer came, and I needed a replacement in a hurry. Saved my lawn.

Saved me a lot of work!
I had two valves fail. I read that you could just buy new valves and remove the 'guts' from the old on and replace with the 'guts' from the new one. It worked like a charm. Easy peasy and no more leaky valve!

Toro 53708 replaces EZF-06-04
We have a toro system which we put in in 2006 and we needed to replace a solenoid in one of the valves onMay 2022. Our valves are EZF-06-04 which of course couldn’t find. Researching came to the conclusion this toro 53708 should replace ours and IT WILL. We only needed the solenoid, not the whole valve replacement. So we just use the guts from the diaphragm up to the solenoid. Hanging onto the valve part in case we may need it in the future, but hope not. Was cheaper to order the whole valve since we figured the diaphragm should just as well be replaced since our system has some age. So glad to find the new model to coincide, that we ordered 5 more to prepare us when the other stations start to fail.

Works great and fits
I had some bad solenoids in my sprinkler valves, so I simply screwed the top solenoid off of these and plugged them in to my old valves of the same size/shape. It works just fine.

Not Compatible with Irritrol
Bought this because it was available overnight, hoping the top would swap with the very similar Irritrol valve body I have. The parts interchange, but this would not push the diaphragm down far enough to shut off the water. There's enough difference designed-in to make swapping not work. Not a fault with the product, just don't bother trying to swap like I did.

The valves are perfect
They are replacing some hunter valves which had aged out and fit perfectly into header

Good value
Came on time looks good and I like the lever instead of grabbing and turning electric valve

Component swap success
I think the valve that I have is the Irritrol version. Took it apart and changed all internal components with this new valve. Repair successful
