Well made speaker with very good tonal balance.
This speaker sounds as if is is a much lagger speaker. It is great for moderate sized rooms (12' x 18') at moderate to loud volume (Not extremely loud volume.) IT HAS 5 WAY BINDING POSTS, NOT THOSE CHEAP, FLIMSY PUSH TERMINALS. You can use large cables 12 ga. Using these large cables I have found that the music is accurately reproduced. I surprise friends by placing them on stands beside much more expensive speakers, most were amazed to realize they are listening to the MTX monitors. I suggest using an amp having 25 to 80 watts RMS. The weakness is as you might expect is in the very low bass region; but on many selections you won't notice (it wasn't recorded).

Not for low end bass at all..
For highs and mids you'll get what you paid for. Don't expect deep booming bass, because these speakers at 6.5" x2 weren't built for such. You won't start getting boomy bass until you get to 8" and above. Now, for those that get the way acoustics work, you will get that punch. Punchy bass and boomy bass aren't at all the same due to frequency range. These MTX's have punch for days.. boom? Not really. You need subs for that boom.. know what you're buying before you make a review. These joints are worth $150 all day long. Consider how many channels you are working with and make sure your acoustic output is balanced.

bad
If you are coming from nothing and cannot compare them to anything, they will be fine...I guess. However, I am coming from a cheap set of polk monitor 50 speakers and there is a massive drop in quality wiht the MTX speakers. Even my Polk tsi100 speakers outperform the mtx by a landslide.

Big woofer big sound
You'll be hard pressed to find a mtm design that'll come close to these for the price. The cabinet is a little light but I can work with it. I suggest you stop procrastination nd purchase

Middle of the road speakers
Okay speakers for the price. The 6.5" drivers have undersized drivers IMO. They replaced a pair of ascend acoustics CBM-170s and the bass in these MTX speakers is significantly less (even tho the ascends are smaller and each have only one 6.5" driver). But the ascends are twice the price ($300/pair) so maybe it's a case of getting what you pay for. Overall I will say I'm disappointed but they're still a vast improvement over TV speakers so I'm keeping them.

MTX 60i: Nice "Blaster" speakers.
After owning these for a few months I decided to update my review. The MTX Monitor 60i speakers seem to be a well made product for $150 per pair. I don't expect audiophile quality at this price point. These are what I call "blasters". They will play loud without needing huge amounts of power. Perfect for casual listening, parties, teen/dorm room, or for use in a tavern, club, or restaurant. I will be getting a pair of Pioneer SP-FS-52 tower speakers to try out next.
