Microsoft Lumia 640XL LTE 5.7-Inch SIM-Free Windows Smartphone - Orange

I bought this for GBP 183 in Amazon, and 2 days later Amazon sells it for 176 :(I wanted to buy the Orange one.. which looked a bit darker in online photos.. but, its much brighter and luminous than I imagined.Ups:----Light weightComes with denim update. Leaving out FHD and ultra high end processors turns out to be a great idea. Well done. Routine activities are quick, fast and smooth.Perfect for non gaming, office/corporate use. Great integration with corporate email. Scores better than iPhones here. Well done.Great finish, build and grip. Once you fit your battery and SIM card, and close the back cover, it feels one piece and solid monolithic object.Samjunk fans who complain about "cheap plastic" can go to hell. For me, the build is great.Allows uninstalling some of the built in apps, which I thought were junk.Camera is unexpectedly good for the price. In spite of big screen, don't get much gain(resolution same as smaller 640). I hope next update has some kind of raster zoomout hack to maximise content on the screen. Also, the default line spacing in apps, is too much. So there's definitely room for improvement there.Stuck with IE. Cant even change home page to my favourite DDG. Microsoft should allow custom search providers and home page.I had an old Hotmail account which I ported to outlook account. You get office 365, I completed registration and all. but while signing in with my Hotmail/outlook credential, getting an error.. I hope I will be able to login when I try again. Free office 365 is a great thing when it works.Without adding external memory, you will not get much space. So HAVE TO buy memory card as wellNo USB cable and headset in the box. Now that's got to be addressed!Not a fan of Cortana yet. Contrary to ads, there is much more to this phone than Cortana!

What a brilliant phone for the price. It came booted with windows 8.1 by I updated to windows 10 and it runs well. No major issues. Battery life is good. Screen is nice and performs well outside. Sound isn't incredible but what do you expect from a phone.The camera is pretty good as well. The Zeiss lens does a great job.As of today there was an announcement for official Facebook and messenger apps so the phone experience will become even better. Windows 10 runs stable and if there's not an official app do something. I.e. YouTube there are great alternatives that I actually prefer. It does everything you want.I'm returning mine so I can get a Lumia 950xl instead as I love windows so much now :D

I've used this phone for more than 2 years and I was happy that I ordered the XL. Good phone on the lower Lumia lineup which do the job for everyday task. Feels good in the hand, only 170g.What I liked:The primary camera (13MP) Carl Zeiss takes good photos in daylight, but the night mode needs improvement.Bright display only 720p but it's not that powerhungry on the battery life.What I didn't like:Sometimes the phone would feel laggy for a split second, perhaps the processor not catching up. Microsoft store is very limited to compare to Google Play, not all apps are available.

It's no more than a big and pretty useless phone. It is not even ok for basic functions - the touchscreen is the most unresponsive slow and irritating screen I have ever used.ubbish at internet access -although when it works it's very fast, BUT, frequently unable to load pages, doesn't transmit log ins properly, especially any which use a Captcha type image. Tapping the screen you will find buttons don't work, or the cursor doesn't appear. You will often find yourself looking at a grey screen telling you it has been unable to access the page/website.Incompatible with a lot of things - including BBC iplayer/podcasts.Often is very slow to 'wake up' - tapping screen and or shaking the phone several times before it does - not good if you want to quickly take a photo! Also, there is a settings bar on the screen - but tap an option and it thinks you want the focus point there - it can take 20 minutes just to get it to switch from front to back camera or to turn the flash on . . .by which time the moment you wanted to capture has gone. I've reverted to carrying my 35mm digital camera now because the camera on this phone is so slow to respond.When it's good, it's very good, but when it's bad it's awful.The most frustrating phone I have ever owned. I am still waiting for the promised update to Windows10 and I've had the phone for 7 months now. It doesn't come with Microsoft Office - just a free trial offer which you have to sign up for within a certain time.

Phone itself is ok. Sadly developers are leaving the platform under armours mapmyrun. Here maps navigation (one of the best) no longer developing. If you just need a phone without apps it's ok

Love this phone and the orange colour, can find it in my bag. Good sized screen and easy to use. Love the self correcting text when you type, so can type very quickly. Love all the emogis can find one for almost anything. Well worth the money.

For the price this phone cannot be beaten for value. As a windows phone user already familiarity with the operating system meant getting set up in no time. As a new model it has the latest update and will have the windows 10 update as soon as it is released. So looking forward to that. The size of the phone means web pages can be viewed with ease and you will soon wonder how you managed with a smaller phone. The camera is excellent, but the internal drive soon gets full, so an sd card is essential. All in all, a great value phone which could whole heartedly be recommended to anyone.
