I bought this right before Christmas of 2023. I have an ice cream store with a huge front window and wanted to use the train in the window along with other mini houses, trees, etc. The first year we put it in the window, the train kept coming off the track. It was brand new so I felt it shouldn’t be doing that. My husband had electric trains in the past and knew what he was doing when setting it up. Since we were unable to keep it on the track, we ended up not turning it on. It kind of ruined the display as our little customers asked if the train worked. This past Christmas, we made sure the track was on a level surface, we cleaned the track with special track cleaner, replaced a couple areas with new tracks and made sure no obstacles were in way the of the train. Once again, the train continued to jump the track. It would go around a couple of times but never lasted more than a few passes before once again jumping the track. We tried multiple times but it just wouldn’t stay on the rails. I am going to put it in the trash as it’s no use to us as it doesn’t do what we bought it to do. I will buy a new one for next Christmas but not sure what brand it will be. I will also check reviews more carefully. I paid more for the train than it’s selling for now. If I’m going to spend $200 or more on an electric train, I want it to work. I’m very disappointed in the quality of this item.

Adorable, smaller than I thought, and hard to set on tiny tracks. Gets off track easily if it’s not set up higher and away from things, not recommended under tree with presents to get to!

I purchased this set to compliment a large layout put up for the community here in Northern Michigan. It worked perfectly out of the box, entertaining dozens of visitors as it chugged along without a problem. Well-made for an inexpensive set, so highly recommended. Adult supervision is recommended.

After setting it all up, we couldn't get it to run. After an hour or two of trouble shooting, we found that the red wire between the track and the transformer was defective. I had to manually hold the jack a certain way at the transformer end to get it to run. I had to order a new cord. I have purchased many items from Bachmann before and haven't had much trouble, but this was an exception.

Jan 18, 2019.Read all the previous reviews and decided to buy the product, even though some of the reviews were bad.Took only 4 days to be delivered to my house- I did not pay for shipping.Price of train is 1/2 of what you can buy it for at a train shop.NOW ABOUT THE PRODUCE:Very easy to assemble. Make sure you connect the tracks properly so the little tips at the end match up perfectly.Train DOES NOT DERAIL. Ran it at full speed with all the cars attached with no problem. (again- make sure the tracks are aligned)Cars are quite light in weight, but stay on the track fine and couple together easily.The "power transformer" is fine, but does not have any connection for accessories- (you would have to buy a separate transformer for switches, lights, etc)Light on engine works according to how fast the train is going.- ok, but not too bright.On the back of the box, it has "layouts" that you can make, and if you look closely, you can see how many additional tracks you will need to buy.The set come with tracks that make a 35" x 47" oval.REALLY GOOD PRODUCT FOR THE BEGINNING TRAIN ENTHUSIAST
