This is the best bit you can buy for CNC sign making hands ...
This is the best bit you can buy for CNC sign making hands down. I started with inexpensive bits and went through A LOT of them. I thought I was saving money but really spent so much more than I realized. I finally found Amana Tool and decided to try the carbide tipped V-Groove bit. Those were so much better than the cheep stuff I started with but would wear out quickly (for me since I run a wood sign business). Now with this, not only do I get a sharper and cleaner cut, it lasts way longer and I can replace the carbide inserts at a third the price of one of there other bits. Insert knives are made from solid carbide and much harder since it's not a brazened bit.If I could take 1/2 star away I would only because replacing the insert is not explained anywhere on the packaging nor on Amana Tool's website. I had to email and call and got a couple different answers before I got the right information from Frank over there. The trick is to start the screw, push the blade in towards the tool and up away from the tool as far as it will go, then tighten the screw. This gave me perfect results. The issue of getting it wrong was that it destroyed an insert knife by breaking off the tip when testing at the wrong placement. You have to get this right if you want it to cut the way it does fresh from the factory. One last tip for you. When you buy replacement knives. spend a bit more and buy the ones designed for MDF. I talked to one of Amana's technical guys and he explained that the carbide is a higher quality and will hold its edge longer. Sure, you might not need anything more than the general purpose (that's what comes on it), but it's nice to have the option and have something just a bit better.

Best 45 v bit you can get for wood.
I love this bit. It cut smooth letters in the hardest woods. The blade came loose and damaged one if my projects. Be sure to check the screw before you use this bit. Otherwise results are awesome. And you cam replace the blade for cheap.

Replacement carbide is excellent.
Very smooth cut on a CNC with little burring on White Oak. Runs with a bit of vibration due to the single flute cutter but otherwise very clean cut. Would recommend this to anyone if you have a CNC. Free hand cutting may be more challenging if not in a jig or track to cut work. Ran 3500 feet of groove in white oak and it is still very sharp with no burning or fraying. Probably wont need to change the carbide for another 5000 feet but did buy the extra carbide replacement cutter just to have.

The product is awesome, service not so much
I can only say by an Amana 90 degree V-Bit that I've been running for about a year that it's been a go-to bit so finally decided to try this 45 degree bit and have only ran it twice and both times the carbide insert chipped out so called the seller when the first insert failed and I do have to say in all honesty the service and shipping time was great, not so much the second time. The insert failed just as the first one did so called the seller again and not so great this time, I do believe it may have been the biggest run around that I've ever gotten. I believe that I spoke with the same gentleman and instead of thinking that it if two inserts fail in exactly the same way it very well could be part of a bad run of parts, certainly things like this happens so instead of taking that road all blame for a repeated issue it was 100% pilot error, here's the insulting part of his reply.....You must be doing something wrong...I used material that the bit wasn't made for...I was not running it at proper speed or feed rate... I was using it in a machine that the bit should not be used in.....it went on and on until I hung up but I now wish that I hadn't because I did want to ask why Amana does not state that there bits can only be used on certain material, I thought Soft Maple would have been fine? The bit can only be used at one speed and feed rate, I thought that running the bit at 18000 rpm-.150 depth and feed rate of 75ipm was pretty conservative.... guess I have plenty to learn. This review is strictly about the seller because I have found that Amana bits are outstanding and brag them up all day long so if you're looking for a high quality cutter you're looking at the perfect manufacturer.

Need to take shallow passes on CNC but good tool
Photo is of my first box with this bit. I ran it with 1/8" DOC @ 60IPM with a Makita 701 router. The first couple passes were smooth but the deeper cuts got chattery. I backed off and re-ran with 1/16" per pass @ 80IPM and that was smooth all the way through. Sides folded up into neat miter joints. Just needs to be glued and clamped.

Cuts cleanly
I purchased for cutting signs. I like the bit ot cuts cleanly. I've only used it for a short time so I'm not sure how long it will stay sharp. Good thing is you can replace the insert when dull.

Great looking bit but...
I purchased this bit after going through a few cheaper 60 degree v-bits and noticing that the angles were not correct ( one was 58 and another was 61 ). I wanted to try out a more professional bit but when I received this one it seems as though the blade does not go all the way down to meet the exact center of the cutting diameter. Because of this, there is a ~1mm dome that appears at the bottom of the cuts. Imagine the point of the bit being .5mm off and doing a full rotation. The point is making a 1mm circle and leaving material in the center. You can see this in the picture I posted. You can also see it just by manually spinning the bit in the router and watching the tip of the blade move side to side. There is no play in my router and this does not happen with my Amana Tools 90 degree vbit or any of my other bits. I tried removing the blade and cleaning the blade seat and replacing it. It also seems like the bit may have been used before due to scratches on the painted surface and what appeared to be sawdust under the blade. Due to the screw hole not giving much wiggle room the blade cannot be set further in as well. All in all, I think this may just be the one I got but it is definitely something to look out for. This could cause unwanted effects when v-carving and if not noticed it could ruin a large project and your day.So long story short, the quality of the bit itself seems good but make sure that you manually spin it in your router and look to see if the point of the blade is offset before doing any cuts.

Only If your board less than 3/4 thick
It's a good bit. Gets perfect 90 degree angle. Houwever, it only suit for boards less than 3/4 inch thick.

Snapped first turn of the router in mid air
I was very pleased to get this product from legendary amana tools. It's the most expensive bit I've ever invested in. One buyer warned not to assume the blade was fixed properly. I checked and it seemed ok. Loaded it, turned my Makita on and the blade snapped and flew out. Didn't even touch the ply wood. Not great so asked for a refund.
