Nice dulcimer

I wanted to learn to play the dulcimer, but didn't want to spend a fortune. This is a great instrument for a great price. Super easy to learn how to play, it's the easiest of the stringed instruments to learn. I was playing songs in no time. You can't go wrong with this dulcimer.

Not As Advertised--Plays And Sounds Okay

I went looking for a beginner dulcimer to see if I was interested in playing the instrument. This dulcimer from Roosebeck looked to be a good choice. The instrument is made in Pakistan, and is a decent sounding dulcimer. You can adjust the space between the strings to suit your style of playing and that's a good thing. I recommend this instrument as a first, beginner dulcimer. When/if you get good at it, you'll absolutely want something much better. My issues with the instrument I received are that it DOES NOT MATCH the product description/pictures:1) It does not have the features as shown in the listing.2) The nut and bridge were not glued down and, consequently, fall off when restringing or adjusting string distances. It is generally accepted practice to put down a little glue to hold the nut and bridge in place. No, it doesn't need to be epoxied onto the wood. It does, and should, however, be attached to the neck by something other than string pressure.3) The strings are cheap, cheap, cheap. If you're going to buy one of these, do include a set of strings and do a change out as soon as you receive the instrument.I only recommend this dulcimer if it's your first instrument, or you're buying it for a student.

Very nice dulcimer

The media could not be loaded.  There are a number of "name brands" of dulcimers that are now priced around $500-$600 and I have a few of those but was wondering how this one would be at $180 for any new members we get in our dulcimer group who might be new to the music. I am very impressed with the Roosebeck dulcimer and will not hesitate to suggest it to new members. And now, of course, I have one to show and play for them.

Exceeded expectations!

Selected this dulcimer after researching the ones online. Thoroughly happy with this purchase.Several reviewers recommended changing the strings. When I brought the dulcimer to a local music shop, the owner assessed the strings and found them to be good. He then asked how much the instrument cost and guessed $500 to $600. He expressed his disbelief that it cost far less. I showed him the page and he turned to the co-owner of the shop and suggested they purchase a few of this instrument.
