Evanger'sSuper Premium Low Fat Vegetarian Dinner for Dogs & Cats, 12 x 12.8 oz cans

My dog loves it but only when I feed her by hand. Otherwise she leaves it for days. She eats half the can so I know she likes it. So I do it because I buy by the case and don’t like throwing it out. She does eat royal canine crunchies for chihuahuas but that’s only after about 3or 4 days. Of course she will eat chicken or beef when I cook it with no problem but I don’t like to give that to her all the time. Dr. Says she’s fine and it’s ok because she’s a small dog chihuahuas like to be close to certain people.

My dog was having skin issues after developing an allergy to chicken. I needed to keep him on a Low Ingredient Diet. He loves this canned food - duck and sweet potato. It's pricey to me but worth it.

We've been feeding a stray cat in our backyard twice a day for the past 10+ years or so (we took her to the vet for medical care and she wasn't microchipped or anything so we've basically taken her in as our own cat by now, and gave her the name "Meowmeow"). My parents are vegan and really wanted to start giving vegetarian food to Meowmeow instead because they feel terrible feeding meat. There are very few options out there for vegetarian/vegan cat food and they're all VERY expensive, and Meowmeow didn't like most of them.And I'm not a vet so I can't talk about the nutritious value of these, but at least it's vegetarian and seems to have a very large mix of proteins and other nurtrients in each can that supplement any deficiencies from a non-meat diet. I've read that cats are natural carnivores and SHOULD NOT eat vegan/vegetarian food but our cat has been very healthy, and all our neighbors have dogs so Meowmeow has been loyal to us and mostly eating what we give her - although she can be very picky at times so I've wasted probably hundreds of dollars on cat food that she just won't touch.I was hopeful when I discovered this available on amazon for a reasonable price (I'd seen this brand before but it was always out of stock). At $3 a can and each can having enough for 2 meals for Meowmeow (she's a senior now and prefers softer food), we were so hopeful she'd like it. And she did! After a few sniffs she went to town on it and ignored the usual food we buy for her (which was a dry vegetarian cat food but very expensive as well). She actually went for seconds. I'm so glad and hopeful that she'll keep enjoying it, and considering buying more cans just to stock up in case it goes out of stock again. Wish these were available in a pet store nearby!

(photo above is inaccurate...this last order was the Venison & Beef Dinner). This review is NOT OF EVANGERS DOG FOOD....IT IS EXCELLENT. BUT SADLY, BECAUSE OF AMAZON I AM AFRAID TO ORDER ANYMORE. This is now the THIRD (3rd ) time I've received a case of Evangers canned dog food, opened it up, and had multiple cans severely dented! The first time I called Evangers directly and they were unable (or unwilling) to help, telling me it wasn't their issue, but Amazon's. So I cannot keep telling them as that gets me nowhere. In addition to 3 shipments being bashed up, one other time I ordered a case for $34, and Amazon sent me one single can!!!! I did call Amazon and they sent the case, but THREE orders all smashed???? I can't keep chasing replacements. My dogs love this food and the ingredients made it worth the money. But Amazon does not care about how they move the cases around. My guess is the pallets are being rammed by the drivers and they don't care. And sooner or later one of these cans are going to poison my dogs due to bacterias entering from the many MANY dents in the cans. AMAZON HAS GIVEN A GREAT SERVICE SINCE THE PANDEMIC, BUT MOST OF US KNOW THEY HAVE NOT DONE SUCH A GREAT SERVICE FOR THE ACTUAL VENDORS. THIS IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF TAKING THEIR POSITION OF GREATNESS FOR GRANTED, AND NOW LOWERING THEIR QUALITY OF SERVICE, SURELY FOR MORE STOCKHOLDER PROFIT. SO SORRY EVANGERS!!!!!!!

I have been feeding this to my dogs for a few years now, and really appreciate it is a small, family run business. Finding limited ingredient pet food with any chicken by products or fat isn't easy. I have a dog allergic to anything chicken but she does well with duck. My biggest issue is the lack of consistency from one batch to another. I reached out to the company as I found discolored, black spots on occasion along the interior edges of the can. The company said it was caused by oxidation and the food was safe. Now I am finding some cans have 1-2 tablespoons of gelatin around the edges of the food. I have tried other brands but they are more soupy/gravy like versus the pate like texture of this food, and my dogs do well on it. I can hide pills easily in the pate, which is another plus.

My dog loves Evangers dog food. Its very satisfying for him. Very good product.

All of the cans came dented. 5 stars for the great food but purchase elsewhere.
