The South Africa Reader: History, Culture, Politics (The World Readers)

I love these readers, and try to read prior to any trip. I wish there were a good reader for every country. A trip is enhanced by knowledge and understanding of a country and its people. Don't go without it.

Have not finished reading it, but as a South African born American, I am looking forward to reading the different version of SA history from what I was taught in school. Always two sides to every story.

I recently visited South Africa. This book provided a variety of essays that set a nice foundation on the complex history of this beautiful country. The people of South Africa are very passionate about their country and these essays help set the background for their country's extraordinary legacy.
