Can you really get a decent cardio (high heart rate) workout on here if you are not a novice or would I need to get the Supreme which has resistance?

I am 66 years old and have exercised for years and in pretty decent shape. I think you have to work out on this with a real fast cadence and I get my heart rate up to over 130 . I also have a gym quality rower. I have worked out on ellipticals at a gym but feel I get a good workout on this and the Concept 2 rower I have. In the summer I bike. Anyway I’m quite happy with the gazelle. You just have to work out a a fast pace and that’s true with the rower too. Hope this helps

when assembled, what are the footprint dimensions?

The dimensions that they list on the product are completely accurate. Product Dimensions: 43 x 28 x 53.8 inches ; 42 pounds 43 is the length and 28 the width once assembled. You'll need a little more space on either end for the feet movement. A foot on each end is reasonable. You could get by with less 6 to 8 inches if need be, depending on your height and step size. 53.8 is the height. Hope that helps.

Can you adjust the tension on the machine?

As far as I know, you can't adjust the tension on the machine. However, the placement of your hands on the handles can change the tension on your muscles as you use it. If you grip the tops of the handles, you get a longer stride, and as you place your hands lower on the handles it changes the stride and the way you use your arms as well. There is an instruction book that comes with it to explain the different ways to use it. Hope this helps!
