Norpro Stainless Steel Scraper/Chopper, 6in/15cm x 4in/10cm

It's been 3 years since I bought this but every time I use it I just think "man, I love this thing" and so I thought I should finally review it. Hopefully they haven't changed anything.This is one of those kitchen utensils that is just so perfect at what it does that it really could not be improved upon. Seriously. I don't think you can find a better scraper/chopper, and on the other hand you definitely could find a *worse* one. You might think "eh it's a scraper" and think you can just buy anything and be happy, but no! Ergonomics matter. Build quality matters. Whether it's easy to clean matters.This thing just always feels right in the hand, it's really precisely flat so you can easily pick up everything you want to scrape up, it doesn't bend or get misshapen, and it's just smooth steel so it basically rinses right off. I love stuff that says it does something and then just does that thing as well as anything possibly could.My wife bakes a lot and she has a plastic scraper that she uses for that and it is no comparison. I don't know why she even bothered buying it. Hers bends, it's all chewed up at this point so it constantly leaves stuff behind, and gunk and stuff all gets in the little scratches that naturally develop in plastic scrapers over time. Avoid these!This scraper is also more than sturdy enough to act as a "press" of sorts, when you want to peel garlic easily, for example. Just lay the scraper flat on top, put your weight on it and press down. It can handle it and it won't bend at all.The icing on the cake is how cheap this scraper is. There is no reason to buy anything else. And it's honestly one thing that I can't believe I lived without as long as I did. The back end of a knife just doesn't work as well and anyway, you will wear out and possibly bend your knives. I use this scraper constantly while cooking, which I never realized I would, and it is just perfect at its job.

I've been using this Norpro scraper for a few weeks now as I teach myself to make bread and I can honestly say it's the best $6+ I've ever spent! Every kitchen should have one of these!Not only is it attractive, it's actually very comfortable. I have severe pain in my hands (and everywhere else) from a rare neurovascular disorder, so I was hesitant to order one without the softer handle. It turns out this doesn't feel like you're holding metal at all! It has a little "give" to it, but still firm enough to pick up and cut through a 2-loaf bread dough.So far I haven't needed to put it in the dishwasher, it cleans up very easily, but I'm sure it would be fine since there are no little crevices for water to get trapped in and cause rust, or bacteria for that matter-score!I also use my handy little scraper to transport chopped veggies and such from my cutting board to the stove. It holds more than the blade of my knife and won't slice my pinky off :). And as a bonus if you're as OCD as I am (or a neurotic pain in the @$$, as my husband calls me lol), you can use the ruler at the bottom to get uniform cuts on your veggies as well as dough.Finally, after a whirlwind of cooking and/or baking, I use this little gem to scrape my mess off the countertops right into the garbage. Whether it's wet or dried dough, sticky minced garlic, or little bits of fresh herbs, this scraper scoots 'em right off without scratching my counter. I definitely recommend this very affordable, multitasking tool!

Exactly what I expected. Excellent product. Good heft to it. Not flimsy like other brands.

As an avid bread maker, I'm constantly seeking out the best tools for my passion. This bench scraper is substantial, accurate and even. So easy to clean. Such an even blade that scraping my bread board is smooth and simple. I use it to cut through the dough as well and it's agile and quick and easy to use. Highly highly recommend

Overall, excellent. Sturdy, durable and solid, etc.Cons: writing wipes off after first washing (no matter to me, but it might matter to you) and the handle could be better thought out. Edge is not sharp, if you're planning to use it for cutting.

This tool has been a kitchen game-changer! I’m a beginner sourdough baker and was so frustrated by having to deal with sticky dough. My family likes the softer sourdough loafs which take a bit more kneading and handling and I was struggling with the wetter type of dough sticking to every surface as I was working with it. I’ve seen other home bread-bakers use this tool so figured I’d try it out. Still am baffled by how well this works at scraping sticky dough off my counters as I’m kneading it! I’ve also found myself reaching for it while making other recipes, like biscuits or cinnamon rolls. It’s very sturdy and easy to clean, even with sourdough. Must-have kitchen tool!
