UPDATE: replacement gauge worked! Updated stars from 3 to 5 due ease and speed of replacement/return! I would use this seller again. I do recommend this productAssembly came with broken gauge.Pros: The assembly for perfectly and arrived quickly, also included o-ring at base of assembly (was not stated as included).I was only replacing my assembly because the clear portion was cracked/leaking , the old gauge worked but was obviously worn. I was able to remove the faulty gauge and put my old gauge on the new assembly to ensure that everything worked fine otherwise. I have reached out to Amazon and they are sending me a new assembly- once that arrives if the replacement gauge is working appropriately, I will update this feedback.

Nice item. Original part in original mfg. package. My plan was to just replace the air purge screw in dealy as the o-ring on the existing had started to fail and the sand filter leaks water at this vent valve assembly (where the purging water comes out). Anyway, Pentair changed the thread on me...why? Just a way to get more money from having to replace the whole deal...which takes unscrewing the top part of the sand filter, which is a pain in the rear. So, I am going to keep it as a backup as it does have a new pressure gauge on it and then I went to the harware store and got a pack of various o-rings and I will try and replace the o-ring on the existing. Should work OK. That will buy me some time since my pool guy is inattentive and even though I pointed it out to him, he is ignoring it so far...ha! But, the part is OEM and it seems like it will fit, etc. These pool things are expensive. They should not be as 70 bucks is a little much for mostly plastic and a gauge, but that is the way it is these days.

We have a pentair sand filter that uses this part. This is the third replacement part we've gotten. The part lasts a few years until it cracks. Our local company no longer stocks it. My husband was able to install it with the help of you tube. The new part works well.

For the easiest installation I recommend a dead blow or rubber mallet, pool gasket lube, some sand paper, and a strap wrench. Channel lock pliers will also work but leave marks.Our Pentair Triton II filter was installed less than 2 years ago and the bleeder valve housing developed cracks. While this should have been covered under warranty it was actually simpler to replace it ourselves.The filter wrench is fragile especially if it is exposed to sun. We applied constant pressure to the wrench and started hitting close to the ring getting the smallest amount of movement but kept at it and then it gradually broke free. Take care removing the filter housing to not lose the o-ring seal.We put the strap wrench around the old bleeder housing and with two people we were able to turn it counter clockwise and remove it. Removing the old pressure gauge 1st made this easier.Before installing the new bleeder valve, we sanded the top of the filter housing to remove any crud that built up under the o-ring seal and then lubed up the new o-ring before threading the lock nut on the bleeder valve assembly. We used the strap wrench to grab the top of the bleeder housing while using channel lock pliers (2.5in or larger) to hold the nut on the underside of the filter housing.Next we lubed the filter housing o-ring before threading the filter housing back into the sand filter body.Torqued to the technically specific "tight enough".loosen the bleeder valve, start the pump and tighten down the bleeder valve when water comes out.Adjust the gauge ring to reflect where the pump is now. Readjust the ring after every back flush for more accurate reading. The gauge will reflect increases in pump pressure due to contaminants in the filter.Our old bleeder valve cracked at the gauge threads and once cracked it continued to degrade quickly. Ours had multiple cracks that appeared within days of each other. Fortunately we caught it in time.Several Triton IIs come with a black bleeder valve assembly. Might be an improvement, not sure. This part was visually identical to ours so we ordered it even though the other part is also considered a replacement. Can't confirm that though

This piece of cr*p cracked in the exact same place as the original one, in the gauge thread area. Lasted less than a year. The gauge threads cannot be affected by the installation, so throw that argument away. My guess is that these are molded overseas using recycled materials and very poor process control. Boo to Pentair!
