DEWALT Router, Fixed Base, 1-1/4 HP, 7.7-Amp, Variable Speed Trigger, Corded (DWP611)

I love this little guy. I bought it because I wanted something more manageable than the large Bosch plunge router I already had. That is also a great router, but for quick trim work or easy routing of material, this little (but powerful) guy does the job.The only thing that I found initially confusing was working with changing the depth, but it really is super simple. Unlock the depth stop, twist clock/counterclock-wise, lock the depth stop and be on your way. Changing bits was also super easy.

All you could ask for in a router. It does it all with ease. No wood is to tough. Even though it’s compact it has the power of a full size router.

Just for quick background. I bought this to replace a Bosch router who's collet disintegrated during a dado cut completely ruining the work piece. I bought this router because I have 4 other Dewalt routers and they all have performed perfectly. However, I'm not sure about this router. I was cutting a 9 inch long dado 3/8 deep in plywood with an 1/2 inch bit and 6 inches into the cut the collet nut loosened causing the bit to wobble then drop. I've been using Dewalt routers for 20 plus years and this is the first time this has happened. It may be a one off but in the future I will ensure the collet is as tight as i can absolutely get it. The thing is my faith in this router is a bit shaken. My advice, tightened the hell out of the collet nut and check it between cuts.

The media could not be loaded. This was my 1st time using an edge guide with a router and it worked out great. I made two passes at 1/8" each in 3/4" Melamine. The Melamine measured .770" thick, so the 3/4" bit leaves the dado narrow. I turned the micro adjuster 3 increments and ran another full depth pass. The dado increased by about .015" for a perfect fit. Nice job Dewalt.
