Bachmann Trains - Pacific Flyer Ready To Run Electric Train Set - HO Scale

We always had a train under our tree during the Christmas season when I was little and then the train got replaced by presents over night on Christmas eve for the next morning. I never started that tradition with my own children but decided I wanted to do it with my grandkids. This train was perfect! It reminded me of daddy's old HO train set and it worked wonderfully! It is small enough to not take up a lot of space but large enough to be noticed and played with under the tree. I can't wait to add some village pieces to it as the years go by.

Bought this as an 'around the tree' Christmas decoration. Haven't been into trains since the Tyco days, and don't have fond memories of that brand. This was was different. Sets-up in 15 minutes and runs fast and quietly. It has been such a fixture, we left it up in the corner to amuse ourselves and the cat. I am amazed that nothing has broken, and no serious issues. I learned that somtimes the track seems like it is attached properly, but not really. Worthwhile to read the instructions that clearly explain to check the track connections for misalignment before using. Whether you are getting back into the hobby or gifting it to a newbie, I think these sets are great choices. If I had a do-over, I would probably opt for the Santa Fe or UP diesel sets, only because you have more accessory options for the more modern equipment.

I am a 9 year old boy and I got this train for my birthday. It is much better than Lionel. The cars can couple automatically with EZ-Mate Knuckle Couplers. However,the coupler in front needs to be open and the one in back closed for this to work. I like the speed controller and the cars that came with the set.The loco is a Bachmann 0-6-0 steam switcher. It has an operating headlight and goes very fast for an 0-6-0 switcher. Also, the price was right. On Amazon this train costed $75.89 but on the Bachmann website, it costs $139.99.I am giving it four stars because the track feels flimsy like it could break. Also, due to dirty track or locomotive wheels, the engine will stall at certain places along the track, but I don't mind. I still LOVE THIS TRAIN. Update-The engine is very strong and pulls a wooden trolley car around the track.The car that the trolley rides in is too light,so the train derails when pulling it at high speeds.Update- Engine very sturdy- has derailed and crashed many times.Only the brass bell and the handrail on the tender have broken. The tender handrail broke off and got lost,but the bell just needs some super glue. WARNING-This train is VERY FRAGILE.Also,the set does not come with much track. The only track included in the box is one curved terminal re-railer and 10 pieces of normal curved E-Z Track. UPDATE- The engine is very strong. It has pulled 2 wagons up short elevations. The first time it ran up these elevations,it would stop at the base and make a grinding gear sound with no motion or even spinning wheels. THIS TRAIN IS AWESOME!

this train was very good beacuse it came with cars and track.got this for my sons 10th birthday he loves it. for the money i think you would get a bigger engine and more cars though . overall this was a great train set

Excelente tren

EZ track is an excellent system. Well-made, fits tight, looks good, makes solid connections and kids can participate much more in track assembly. Also great for temporary assembly and can be put away easily. Wish we had this when I was a kid.The engine and cars are of good quality with nice detailing. The engine runs smooth and quiet, but gets stuck on every switch and rerailer at low speed because of a hump over one of the axles underneath... even the rerailer/power feed section that comes with the the set, which is totally unacceptable! This can be fixed by filing down the hump, which is a harmless alteration but come on -- it should come ready to use out of the box.On the simple loop with no accessories or turnouts, the power pack shorted out after 10 mins and would not fully reset after any period of waiting. Christmas had to be saved... I got out to a store and found a replacement, for which I paid more than I paid for the whole set in the first place. Bachmann has said that they will replace the defective pack, I am sending it out today. Hopefully no nonsense.The verdict is this... if you are a budding hobbyist and going to take the train and the parts from the box and mix/match with other trains you already have, this is a nice little set and a good value. If this is a first train set and you are relying solely on what's in the box to make holiday/birthday dreams come true, do NOT get this set... between the delicate parts, unreliable power pack (see other reviews) and engine that needs modification to avoid getting stuck at low speed, there's just too much that can go wrong.

very nice

I have a 6 year old who saved up his birthday money. He wanted a model train. This comes with the easy track system. Its just a round layout but its perfect as he can assemble and play in his floor, kitchen table, etc... It is a model train so there have been some broken couplings- but I was able to repair very inexpensively. Its a Nice little train set and I would recommend it to anyone of all ages.
