Ariel Mayse is a must read for anyone who is truly seeking something meaningful, fresh, scholarly, or easy to connect with. This book is a testament to his control of language and Jewish thought.Its also a reply nice way to start learning about Mysticism, Jewish or not, because of its wide range, yet in depth examples.

'From the Depth of the Well' is perhaps the best introduction to the primary sources of the Jewish mystical texts. Mayse selections in the anthology gives not only a real introduction to something which is usually kept hidden but introduce a whole range of works which would otherwise be unknown to the English language reader.

For anyone to have an opportunity to get his/her hands on anything written by this author is considered lucky. His writing is challenging yet soothing. His points are thought provoking and enlightening. So happy to have this on my shelf.

This anthology is the beginning of what will be a career of brilliant scholarship, fine-tuned interpretive translation, and a deep understanding of Jewish Mysticism. If you aren't interested in the subject matter, you will be after reading this book.
