I ordered 3 books on Ireland. None, including this one, had the highest quality photography/printing quality. This was the best one, however. It is divided into three sections -- the ancient world, the natural world, and the cultivated world. It is more focused on particular scenes with good textural explanations. Other books had more expansive photos of towns and buildings, while this one had excellent scenes of natural vistas. I would recommend this book with the reservation that you will not get coffee table quality printing, but then you are not paying coffee table book price either.

Great way to escape reality and pretend you are there!

I purchased this book as a gift and was very happy with the quality of the book and beautiful photography. My friend had been to Ireland and she loved this book.

We bought this book for my mother-in-law. My husband and I are going to visit Ireland next year and my 94 year old mother-in-law is an armchair traveler. While not a travel guide or trip planning book, we wanted to have her look at places in Ireland that she would visit if she was going with us, and to give us suggestions about interesting places she felt we should visit. She loved the book and is so happy we are including her suggestions in our travel plans. The book is full of interesting historical information as well as beautiful pictures of the Irish countryside.

This book is a real beauty! Every page is like a dream...unbelievable photography that is the Ireland we imagine in our minds. Almost all rural scenery with heavenly skies and lighting upon the green land that made me gasp. No disappointing huge pictures of hanging meat in marketplaces or nondescript crowds milling around. It's all a precious jewel of a book! If you dream about Ireland, buy this book. You will not regret it!!! Susan

Beautiful pictures

We bought this book for my mother in law and the pictures are breathtaking and the write up on the pages is very detailed and interesting. Anyone who enjoys Ireland or is looking to get familiar with the country should definitely buy this book. The price is perfect and it's a beautiful collection for any library.

The authors hold a love for this majestic oasis in turbulent tides. There's something indefinably poignant in Erin's glance captured so beautifully throughout the cinemascope of a history and worth largely untold. I was captivated heart and soul on first sight of this tribute to a place, people and time woven through myth and harsher realities. Turning the pages through a half-remembered dream my being was called for the day of return to some mysterious future. from some unthinkable past. May her radiance never be blighted, may her people once more be united and Her Lore be restored to the family of clans to shine o'er the Earth for those who can see. Ah, well, she has this effect on me.

Quite simply,this is the most beautiful book of photos I have ever seen , not just of Ireland. If you are Irish it will take your breath away. For me it brought back youthful escapades near the Cliffs Of Moher and other areas but this book will appeal to anyone who admires natural beauty photographed by top class photographers with an eye for the perfect moment to click the shutter. Highly recommended.

A well written book full of magnificent photos that I bought for an elderly Irish friend for Christmas .It took him back to his childhood in Ireland and has inspired him to return for a holiday there. He was absolutely over the moon with the book therefore I highly recommend it.
