The Best

Excellent for art pieces you want to last. Expensive, but well worth it. The company's website has a calculator so you can determine how much you need. Quality costs, don't waste your money on cheaper alternatives.

Great Resin, 1st-time-resin-users need guidance

As a first time resin user I had done research into different resin types, and decided to use this epoxy resin based on its dedication to non-toxicity, easy to use 1:1 ratio, clear cure, and great reviews. Nonetheless, I quickly discovered that even as wonderful as this resin is, before I could take advantage of the benefits of this resin I required pointers and background knowledge. However, seeing that this is considered high end resin, its highly unlikely you have many first time resin users buying this brand. But just in case there are, I wanted to share some basic tips. Some of these pointers may seem like a reiteration of what's available on the company website and general epoxy resin literature, but going through this information piecemeal made me second guess the applicability of the info, so decided to write out a few important ones. Please excuse any grammatical mistakes as I'm writing from my phone app:-Use the right materials:1.) Buy or get the right size disposable mixing cups/containers. For example, if you are using 1 quart total of resin, buy a 1.5 quart with proper measurements so you yield the exact 1:1 ratio. Trust me, you don't want to invest in high quality resin and then mess it up by measuring the resin or hardener wrong. It's a science.2.) Buy the right mixing sticks. Don't try mixing with plastic or something that will break easily. Try getting a thick wooden mixing stick that will help to mix the resin and hardener quickly and effeciently. You don't want to spend six minutes mixing and have lots of bubbles in your final product. Trust me, I know.3.) Use a small torch to help get rid of bubbles. If you can't afford one, then use a lighter, but you need to work quickly to bring any air to the surface and remove bubbles.4.) If you are doing smaller projects, just lay down wax paper or a any type of cover for your work space you can throw away. Larger projects should be done outside or in a large ventilated space.5.) Use gloves and safety gear. Even though this is non-toxic epoxy resin, you are working with this as a medium to cover, gloss, or create a mold. The last thing you want are sticky fingers while trying to work with your art. In fact I find disposable gloves are perfect as I can peel them off guilt free and put on a new set without the hassle of being overly cautious with keeping resin off of them.-The best way to avoid bubbles in your final cured resin piece is to mix slowly, efficiently, and always pour cautiously. You'll get the hang of it, but pouring (the resin, the hardener, and the mixture) is a personal experience, kind of like driving.-Give it time (1-2 days) to cure before touching. Sure, you might be able to touch it before then without creating finger marks, but why do it if you know it's still curing? A fully cured piece will take about 3 days, so kind of appreciate the time by thinking of how much better it will look if you give it time.-Last (But not least), remember to be patient as you do this. Art takes time, and even though resin may not seem like an art form for first time users, it can be if you have patience and make it your own.

Ultimately disappointed

The media could not be loaded. I really liked the size of the bottles that the resin was available in and that it did not have a very strong smell, but I am ultimately dealing with issues and I am not sure how to quite deal with them. I am highly upset that I’ve paid the price that I paid for the resin and now it looks like it is something growing inside of the bottle, see attached pictures, or that part of the resin is already trying to harden and there’s small white pieces inside of the bottle. Some of the white pieces are hidden when I use color in the resin but I am discovering that the resin is also not caring as well. I absolutely hate being in the situation because I have a bunch of resin that seems to be pretty much unusable and the return window has closed. Had I known that something like this was going to happen with the resin, I would not have ordered it. I tried to go ahead and order resin before running out of my previous resin and it sat on a shelf for a few months before I got to it,during which time the resin remained closed and not exposed to the elements so I am unsure of what the problem is and how to resolve it. Now I am on the hunt for a different resin. I have worked with resin for almost a year and haven’t experienced problems like this before, but since I have chronic migraines, this brand was recommended. The last thing I want to do is apply this to someone’s tumbler and they have issues with it. I am seriously pissed because it’s a waste of money at this point.

Good but 'thin'

This is my 4th - 5th different epoxy to use. I like there is no-low odor, and the viscosity is rather high/thin, so trying to do any coloring art work seems a bit difficult. Due to the higher viscosity trying to blend any colors etc can be difficult as it's very thin and will run together, such as doing ocean waves etc. You may have better luck waiting a few minutes for it to begin to thicken, but I rather being able to mix and use as I do with MAS. I do use this epoxy afterwards to provide a clear coat over my work for food items as it's foot safe.

Great Product, BUT YOU NEED A RESPIRATOR!

Wow! As much as I like ArtResin, I think that they are being really irresponsible with the statement that "no respirator needed" They are making light of how toxic Resin really is. I use several different types of Epoxy Resins depending upon my needs. I use this just for pours, but I wear a respirator... Each and EVERY Time (regardless of ventilation)! Why do I wear it? Well.. for one it gives me asthma attacks and I don't have asthma. another... you are basically making plastic. You are heating plastic when you torch or use a heat gun it to remove bubbles/move the resin. While, this product doesn't make as many bubbles, it is foolish to think that it is bubble free and you wouldn't apply heat. We still have no idea what the long term effects will be from resin use... i.e. cancer, respiratory issues, skin issues, etc. So do your due diligence and protect yourself. Check out forums to see how others have had allergic reactions.Art Resin, please remove that statement. It is foolish to think that everyone is doing it in a facility likes yours. We are all doing it in our homes or garages. Be safe everyone. It really is a good product.

This resin is awesome!!!

This is the only brand of resin I buy. I use the resin over art that I paint on wood slices. I also use it for 3D light up dioramas. This stuff is made for artists by artists. I cant compare it to other products on the market because honestly, it was the first resin i tried after researching and it's the brand I trust! It might be a bit more expensive that other brands, but I've always believed you get what you pay for.
