JJ Vacuum Tube Set for Fender Hot Rod Deluxe/Deville, Apex Matched

I just received the JJ / Tesla re-tube kit for my early generation Fender Hot-Rod Deluxe tube amp. This kit as three 12AX7's for the pre-amp and two matched 6L6 power tubes. It was super simple to install. I did take the time to wear gloves and clean the tubes so there wasn't any old or dirt on them. After a slight adjustment on the plate voltage resistor to get back to Fender spec's it really made a HUGE difference in how good this amp sounds.My HRDLX amp is an early Made in USA model from 1999-2000 so it's 20yrs old. The original 20yr old Groove Tubes (re-packaged Chinese and Sovtek tubes) were never matched from the factory. The were also new old stock simply tested and installed into the Fender Tube amps. Some of my original tubes had rattle, microphonics, and low level hum. The tone stack was unresponsive and the clean and drive amp gain was extremely sensitive (basically on or off), making it very difficult to play a lot volume levels.With the new JJ / Tesla tubes the amp sounds BETTER than it ever did even when it was new. I have an extra JJ / Tesla 12AT7 tube I swap for V1 on the pre-amp to slightly lower the gain when I am playing at home. WOW! I can't stress how much of an improvement there is. My tone stack actually works properly again. The tone is sweet and warm. The gain channels breaks up nicely without being harsh right up to the sweet sweet saturation point. The 6L6 tubes come as a Matched Pair and have their validated testing stamped right on them. Zero microphonics or tube rattle. All of the 60cycle hum on the clean channel is gone and it's crystal clear. Even the high gain "Fat" switch setting is much less noisy than it was with the old tubes.IMHO this is the best upgrade other than possibly speakers you can do for Fender's Hot-Rod series of amps. Certainly well worth the money and took very little effort to install. The shipping was extremely fast and the tubes arrived well packaged and safe. I no longer wish to install any of those "mod" kits floating around out there. I highly recommend these. If your looking for better tone on a Hot Rod Deluxe, this is the way to go!

Great product and made my Fender Hot Rod sound like a new one!!! The tubes were ordered on Amazon, but came from a company called Tonal Tubes and they had it right on the money, no issues at all with installation. Very pleased and will buy again if I need tubes for any of my amps

these are great in my Fender Hot Rod De Ville 4x10, the old GT tubes were not sounding very good and a lot of noise, as soon as I put these in the noise was gone and the Amp came back to life, nice crisp clean sound and great crunch with some Gain, I haven't tried any effects pedals yet, so far I've been loving the amp with no outside effects, Hard rock, Metal, Blues all sound great through it now, will buy these again when needed.

Great tubes and an affordable price

I put these in my Fender HRD to replace the stock tubes. So far so good, sound better than the stock tubes and work the way they should. Awesome Tubes for the price

Put in Fender Hot Rod Deville that was acting up/cutting out. Sounds amazing now.

This amp was used for about 8 years in about 150 shows, and I always had issues with it. It had a very sharp ice pick treble attack. There was no way to get rid of the awfulness with amp settings or guitar settings. But I used it any and adjusted my playing to reduce the output coming from by single coil pickups. Play gently and it was tolerable. About two years ago I gave up and got a different amp, a Blues Jr., which was moderately better. On a whim I installed the JJ tubes into that amp and it changed everything. Everything sounded great. Today, after letting the Hot Rod sit on a shelf for two years, I installed JJ Tubes into the Hot Rod Deluxe. Now this amp sounds great too. What an amazing difference. Seriously. I can't believe I suffered with terrible sounding amps for so long.
