Fit like oem on a JD 955
Getting the old one off took some work and a fork but once I changed over the fittings, this worked great on my JD 955.

Perfect fit for my John Deere 955.
Works great. Had to reuse the plug from the old cylinder in the unused port, but very easy to replace.

This is the quick fix. You know you want it.
This is a pricey cylinder, but what else can you do? I put up with the leak too long. I talked to a tractor tinker who said hydraulic repair shops can cut off the welded heads and rebuild the cylinder, but that does not replace the hip joint at the rod end. Don't be fooled into thinking that a tie rod end can be welded onto the rod. The taper fit attachment point is wrong size. If not worn out, can be reused but still must be cut off and welded back after rebuild. I decided to just pay the price and be done. Ouch! I hope you can unseat the taper pin quicker and easier than I did. Also, when installing, don't tighten the nuts more than finger tight until everything is attached correctly. Label the hydraulic lines as they are removed or take a photo before disassembly.

Will not fit on an early model 855 without modification
I asked the question if this would fit an 855 and 1 answer said yes and 1 answer said with a slight modification. The modification required for my 855 (fuel tank behind gauges and battery in front of radiator) was shortening the shaft by 2 1/2”. Fortunately I have a metal cutoff saw and welder but someone without the tools/ability would have to return it or pay someone to make the modification.
