Husqvarna531300440 20-Inch FT280-72 Chain Saw Bar, 3/8-Inch by .050-Inch

This bar is the extension for my Husqvarna 460 Rancher. The saw has a 24 Inch bar on at this time. Bars need to be adjusted to the Job to be done. So the longer one does not always fit and vice versa.The bar itself is heavy duty made and therefore very solid to last. It matches to the 3.7 HP engine of my saw and expect to last it for a while. When I compare this bar to a consumer one, this one is tough.I bought chains along with that bar (H80) from Husqvarna, a good combination.Very good bar!Fits the following Husqvarna chain saws (as on the package, April 2015): 55 Rancher, 455 Rancher, 257, 261, 262 XP, 357 XP, 359, 460, 460 RancherDrive links 72, 3/8 Pitch, 0.050 Gauge. When selecting a bar refer to Husqvarnas web site. Bar, chain and sprocket must fit together. However you can still select different teeth shapes depending on the job:Low-profile: Low kick back chains, lower cutting speed, low vib. Long intervals benween sharpenings.Semi chisel: Still low kick back, faster cutting, more sensitive to dirt.Chisel: Kick back risk, fast, agressive cutting, sensitive to dirt (sometimes called clean cuts). Run these chains only when you have experience with chain saws. When you want to try it, do it on already cut down wood with advisor for the first cuts. Take good care.General: There is no general saw when you cut different wood. Therefore I decided for a small 38 ccm saw and a 60 ccm saw. For both I have different bar langhts at home. This makes me flexible and have a "adjusted" saw to the job of the day.

As advertised - saved myself a few bucks and did not have to go to the store - Last one I bought make it past 4 years - hope this one works as well. Paired it with a new Stil chain. It is important when you install a new chain to run it for about 15 seconds (to stretch the chain out), then re-tension it and you will be a happy logger. I also lube the front sprocket with bar oil prior to each day's use.

This OEM bar can be a good choice for users with saws that can handle it. I've purchased a number of these for my 359s. The 20" length works well for felling larger trees and bucking trunks of trees that have been dropped. You can expect good performance and long life if kept well-oiled, out of the dirt and don't pinch it felling a tree or big branches. Four stars because the paint is marred too easily. Expect the paint to get marred and bar to start getting ugly if trees or branches clamp onto it. If the chain is dull or not getting enough oil expect it to discolor and burn. The bar can be used upside-down and trued with a file to extend its useful life.

Was hard to find the correct replacement after smoking the factory bar last fall. Husqvarna changed the part number so cross referencing was a challenge. Got assistance from a dealer & was finally able to locate the correct bar online. Once the correct bar & new chain were installed, the saw worked as good as new.

Fits my Husqvarna 455 perfectly. This is an original OEM bar and the quality is evident. Hopefully this should last for many years to come as long as I keep the bar groove and oil port holes cleaned better than in the past. I buried the bar in some thick wood for some tough cuts and this, combined with poor bar maintenance burned out the roller in the nose (my fault).

I bought the 20” to go along with my 18” on my Rancher. It has made a difference when cutting bigger pine trees. Great quality and hold up great!I would recommend to a friend.
