Goldwood Sound Dual Voice Coil 6.5" Replacement Speaker Woofer Black (GW-406D)

I was unaware of a dual connection found it quickly and came quickly...perfect. had to do a modification on my 2001 jeep but it worked.

I gave this speaker high marks, not because it is the best speaker I have ever heard, but because it does exactly what I wanted it to do. I have a 2004 Jeep Wrangler with a console mounted factory sub-woofer. The factory speaker went bad and I started looking for a replacement that did not cost close to $200 like the OEM one is. It is not hard to imagine that you can't get a true sub-woofer sound in a 6 ½ inch package, but what you do get is a faithful reproduction of the factory original, and you get this for around $25.00. This shipped from Parts Express where you also get top notch customer service. The only con and it is not the fault of the speaker but the application is you have to take a Dremel tool to the inside of the housing to get it to fit. This took about 30 minutes.

I bought this to replace the factory sub in my 2001 Wrangler. Performance wise I would say it is pretty equal to the factory sub I replaced but not better. It would be expecting a lot, especially for the money, to expect much more from it though.The problem I ran into, no fault of the speaker itself, its fitting it into the factory sub box. Some here have suggested it is as easy as trimming some internal ribbing but in my case the internal amp was also hitting the magnet shield. I had to trim the corner of the amp housing to get it in. Not pretty. I am unsure why they even make shielded speakers any longer. They are not needed for the flat panel TV's now primarily in use.For the price though, it is an all around solid value and worth considering.

Dito to other reviews on how well this subwoofer works as a center console replacement for a Jeep TJ Wrangler. One big plus is that this is a dual voice coil woofer that delivers BOTH CHANNELS of bass (like the factory subwoofer) rather than the one channel hookup compromise that others I saw in this price range require. There are some Dremmel tool cutting modifications needed inside the console to make it fit, especially around the factory subwoofer power amp though I got that done without any cutting on the amp enclosure. Once complete the effort is definitely worth it. This speaker delivers much deeper, cleaner and tighter bass than the factory system ever did for me as it brings the entire system sound spectrum surprisingly well together.

Bought this for my 2004 Jeep Rubicon with center console sub woofer, had to cut a few of the plastic ribs to get it to fit deep enough but it was a simple task, took 30-minutes for the modification. Used a pair of diagonal cutters. This speaker sounds 100% better than the factory sub and with the aftermarket head unit it thumps. The TJ amp supplies power to all the speakers so there is a built in crossover to keep the low frequency bass away from the soundbar and front speakers. Great speaker and great price. Could use more power to drive it but for now I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

Sounds bad... Doesn't move volume like OEM woofer when it's exact same ohm and size. Don't order. I blew it up about 10mim after install by hooking it up to a home outlet. It burst into flames within .5seconds. Expected result but I mean this thing was a waste of time and money. Some people have no issues with it, but I guess I'm the odd man out. It just hardly did anything even cranking it up. And I litterally had it wiring perfectly matching to the OEM amp and matching the ohms. Oh well. It was cheap so I gave it a shot.

It did fit only after some modifications. Don't buy thinking its a plug and play type situation, it's not. If you're not a handy person you may want to other options...
