Zodiac 9-100-1132 Drive Train Gear Kit with Turbine Bearing Replacement

This part seems to be an original Polaris part and fit in my Polaris 360 fine.

Wasn’t sure if it works for 3900 but it’s also the same size pretty easy to install.

Repair Polaris Pool sweep

Polaris 360 wasn't moving, but the wheels turned by hand. Tried cleaning the water port trick found via a web search. Didn't work. Used this replacement kit to install new gears and bearings that were provided. When removing the old gears I found parts of zip ties that had deteriorated and broken off the hoses and had gotten into the gears as the probable cause. Polaris 360 now moving around the pool like new.

I replaced the gears on a 10-year old sweeper after discovering that there was slop in the turbine due to a worn turbine bearing. As a result, the small gear on the compound gear had uneven wear.The vendor sent the item promptly in a brown envelope padded with bubble wrap. The gears were packaged in the manufacturer's sealed plastic bag, with installation instructions included. The turbine (with bearing) inside the bag is protected by a bubble-wrap pouch. All items appeared to be identical to the original gears in my Polaris 380. A couple of installation videos on YouTube (search for "Polaris 380 Swimming Pool Cleaner Tune-up Guide Video" include a discussion of some of the steps needed for gear replacement. The instruction sheet is OK, but was easier to understand after watching the videos.The "hiccup" was that the old compound gear was stuck on the shaft. I didn't have an appropriate gear puller, so I removed the outer bearing and was able to pop the gear loose with a C-clamp. The instructions say that the Polaris logo on the new compound gear should face out, but neither the replacement nor the original compound gear had any logo. The last step says to install the frame onto the base and then reinstall the feed pipe. On my sweeper, the feed pipe needs to be put in place before the inner frame is screwed to the base.I received the part that I wanted promptly from the vendor, and the item appeared to be identical to what one would find in a new sweeper. Together with the drive belt replacement, this put a lot of pep back into the sweeper, which now almost climbs out of the water as it sweeps up the sides.

I serviced our Polaris 380 cleaner, replacing these parts while at it. Unfortunately, the unit worked slowly and wheels kept stopping.I traced the problem to resistance in the drivetrain gears.I disassembled the unit and compared the new gears to the old. The new ones are quite noticeably larger in diameter than the original Polaris wheels. The larger diameter of the two mated gears meant they introduced enough resistance to prevent the cleaner from moving properly, and led to it frequently stopping altogether.Conclusion: these are not a match to the original OEM parts, and are too large in diameter to work properly. Given such large deviation from specs, they are probably fakes, despite "polaris" packaging and name molded into the plastic. Or Polaris/Zodiac has no quality control. I only hope it's the former.All I can say is stick with your old gears. If the turbine bearing is worn out, just replace the turbine. The other 2 gears are garbage.

I ordered this Drive Train Gear Kit and our package did not arrive when expected. I contacted them and received an immediate reply. We were offered a refund or that they would send us another kit immediately. We ended up locating our package so no refund or another kit was not needed. You can not bet there customer service. The kit was also a great value and easy to install. I would definitely purchase from them again.
