HON10500 Series Lateral File, 2 Legal/Letter-Size File Drawers, Harvest, 36" X 20" X 29.5"

This lateral file looks swanky and is very sturdy yet is economically priced. It comes fully assembled so there are no bad little surprises about pieces not fitting together properly. We're pleased enough with the purchase that we intend to buy a second one in a couple of months. The packaging was very good and protected the file very well, but the cumbersome box was a lbit of a job to hump into the house for unpacking. Count on needing two strong people to unpack it.Two years later, we're still very pleased with these files. We bought a second one just a couple of months after the first, and both have been in pretty heavy home office use for about 2 years now. They've been moved once and everything still fits beautifully with no creaking or lopsided drawers. We feel these files are a very good value.

This thing is ridiculously heavy. The delivery was subcontracted and the delivery man would only put it on the front sidewalk despite having asked to help get it inside. The box that it came in showed no obvious signs of damage, but the back panel had been broken free if its attachments along one side and was swinging freely. I had to go to hardware store to buy a long drill bit and long wood screws to repair. The heavy particle board of which it’s made is difficult to work with. One of the front drawers also had a broke corner. Had to buy a bottle of wood glue to glue and clamp to try and repair.

If there is ANYTHING wrong with your cabinet & you reach out to PNWB Office Products, you will only be offered a chance to ship the 170# item back, BUT it has to be repackaged exactly the same way for a refund. UPS informed me that the shipping back would cost more than the item is worth. After many hours, I did find that I can get the company that makes the file cabinet, HON, to mail me the directions & the missing part (glider) that allows the drawer to function. I will have to pay a handyman to fix a part that should have been there to begin with. I will never buy a large cost/heavy item from Amazon or PNWB again. I wish I had gone directly to the company HON in the first place for my purchase. This was way too risky!!! I am lucky that I found a solution to make it work.

The HON wood furniture is built to last and looks great!

I bought a couple of used Hon large metal lateral files from a person in my office building for my office about 6-7 years ago. They are still perfect. So when my adopted Mom needed to move her office home when she went to part-time, Hon was the one I wanted. The wood finish makes it an attractive part of our home office. It is sturdy, well-made, and the drawers glide easily. It is exactly what we wanted and we are delighted with it. I also like that it is already assembled!

This is a well made piece of furniture! It works perfectly for me in my office. Please note however, it is VERY heavy! Don't plan on moving it yourself, especially when it first arrives and needs to be unboxed.

For the price of this lateral file cabinet, I expected more. It was fortunate for me that the item arrived completely busted up - and that was not evident from the outside of the box. It was also fortunate that I paid for white glove delivery, so the delivery men were the ones who discovered the damage and took it away immediately. Looks like it was made of particle board or fiber board, not a substantial piece worth the cost. I found another lateral file that is wood for just a little more money. Glad I got my refund!

I had ordered the Lorell cabinet but it was "destroyed" in transit. Amazon replaced that one with this product. It is very sturdy and is very heavy. It might be easier to have white glove service so that there are 2 people to set it up and unpack it. I had to help the delivery guy get it in the house, thank goodness it went in the basement where there were no steps. I think it weighs 300 pounds.
