Discontinued
This solenoid replaces the old Orbit solenoid. The old solenoid is no longer available. This new solenoid WILL NOT WORK WITH THE OLD ORBIT VALVE! See attached, it clearly explains the problem!

Works on old WaterMaster valve
Even though the new solenoid looks different without the exposed plunger and spring, it still works on my older WaterMaster valves.

Replacing an older solenoid with metal plunger? Remove the old O ring!
Echoing TS's review."Many are complaining about this version not working on older valves. If the O ring used with the old metal plunger solenoid is left in place the valve will not shut off. Remove it and the new solenoid will work as expected."I followed TS's advice and was able to use this to replace the discontinued solenoid for Orbit 57223 sprinkler valve. Just remove the old O ring and new solenoid fits without leaking, shuts off just fine.

It appears to be an upgrade from the old style rubber spring. Time will tell.

Fit my orbit valves and seem to work. Not sure on longevity and the price has doubled. They do fit though.
