Thread-o-matic
This is a nifty gadget that helps you thread a needle. I think it would fit most standardized needles. The instructions were clear and I was able to get the needle threaded on my first try.Tip: when you place the thread on the V groove, ensure you have enough slack on both sides, ie ~4-5 inches.I didn’t have to use tweezers or slooooooowwwly do anything. Although, I can see that I would have to be more careful if I had to thread something that was attached to what I was working on.I did have a problem with opening the needle compartment, because there were no instructions. You need to TWIST the dark magnet/cap off.Do I need this? No, I’m in my thirties and my eyes haven’t failed me. And I can usually get the needle on, but it is the limiting factor. And it can be a strain on my eyes to get that needle threaded, so I thought this MIGHT help reduce the negative effects on my eyes sight.I also like the magnet pick up (which you can accomplish with any magnet) and the needle compartment (which you can use pin cushions for), and a cheap 5 cent needle threader usually does the job, BUT I like nifty doo-dads that are all-in-one.I actually found this because I broke my cheap needle threader and I was in the market for a needle holder.

Complicated
This was one of the worst purchases I’ve made. I thought I could trust this brand, but the directions were not clear making it a complicated ordeal to use. I even looked it up on YouTube-didn’t help. I never could get it to thread a needle, actually, I ended up doing it the old fashioned way…just thread and needle. Gave it one star because I did receive it in good time, but it went in the trash after wasting over an hour trying to figure it out.

Better directions for use.
The directions are less than adequate. The video made it seem easy. It really wasn't. But I was determined to make to work. 1) Set the gizmo on a flat surface, with window facing you. 2) If your needle is too fat, it won't work, like a small darning needle. 3) Have excellent light while working. I used a flashlight to see the size of the needle opening. 4) the little gray switch goes up if a small needle or down if large. 5). Determine the opening and face it toward you are you place the opening down through the top round depression on the gizmo. 5) Push the lever in to be sure that it doesn't catch, meaning the opening does not line up. 6) If that works without a hitch, put in the thread in the slide, down to the bottom and... most importantly... hold the thread on both sides t angle down the sides pointing toward the front of the gizmo.. 7) How, with your other hand, push in the lever. You should feel a pull, which is the little piece of metal pushing the thread through the needle hole. 8) Now let go of the unit and make sure the thread is free on both sides and not caught under the unit. 9) Very, I mean very... carefully, and slowly pull the needle up with one hand, the other hand keeping the unit steady. You should actually see the thread on the side of the unit moving. That means the thread is inside the needle in the form of a tiny loop. 10) Keep pulling until you see the needle hole with loop peaking out the top of the unit. 11) Lean the little loop on the side of the opening to keep it from disappearing. Then hold the loop with your finger pressing on it, the rearrange your finger to catch the loop. 12) Now you can pull the little loop through, but only with one side of the thread. Congratulations. You threaded the needle. I tried it at least 20 times without success, but once I practiced I could make it work every time. I hope this helps, but if you don't have the patience, you can send it back and use your little wire loop as you probably used before this gizmo arrived.

Nice
I like it but must add, it is not easy to see your needle inside the threader but it ended up working fairly well. Give it a couple of tries and it does work

Mom loves this little tool!
So I ordered this for my mom for Christmas, and she really likes it! So what follows are her words and whatnot about this threader. She said that 'It threads embroidery floss as well as applique needles without a problem.' So this is definitely something that I would order again for somebody (not myself because I'm not a quilter, but I know someone who is)

This is so helpful!
I only have a small gripe. The magnet *could* be stronger, but it works in finding lost needles or holding them until I am ready to use the needle again.Regardless, this product works great. I love that it has a switch for large and small eyes in the needles. I love that it can hold the needles in the twist off bottom; I love that I can leave thread on the needle and still store it in the bottom (I just leave the thread hanging out, and when I need the needle again, I twist off the bottom and pull the tread that has the needle instead of dumping out all of the needles.) The threader works great, even though I've been a little rough with it. :) Sometimes the threader misses the needle eye, but that is because I have used the wrong size eye for the number of threads (I tried getting three threads in a small eye..... that didn't work so well. But changing up the needle worked). The small thread cutter (razor) is easy to use and tucked in for safety.
